Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director, the Academic Authorization Project Coordinator will serve as a project administrator for a long-term NYSED compliance project within the Office of Academic Program Review and Assessment (OAPRA). The incumbent will review NYSED proposals and identify draft feedback and necessary revisions according to established criteria. The incumbent is a proactive, self-motivated member of the OAPRA team, providing oversight and project management support to a long-term project, and partnering on some daily operations. The incumbent is required to gather and analyze the needs of end users, liaise between department Deans and Directors, and assist with the execution of the entire development life cycle (including scope definition, requirements gathering, analysis, and department impact). The incumbent is expected to collaborate productively with stakeholders and academic partners across the University, in order to meet OAPRA objectives according to University governance and protocols. Please note this is a 24-month fixed-term position.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in fields related to social sciences, policy, management, higher education, law, or others with appropriate experience and skills.
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in fields related to social sciences, policy, management, higher education, law, or others with appropriate experience and skills.
Required Experience: 3+ years experience directly supporting processes and systems for compliance with regulatory requirements within a large, complex organization or established record evidencing ability to master and implement complex policy subject expertise within an organizational setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience: 3+ years experience with responsibility for managing state-level academic authorization for a program or school within higher education.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong familiarity with the authorization landscape and implications for institutions in higher education (or significant interest to master new knowledge in these areas). Significant service-orientation, passionate about applying skills, expertise, and knowledge to help school leaders navigate the authorization landscape to achieve their academic goals. Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to independently conduct comprehensive, thorough reviews of complex documents and data, identifying issues relative to established criteria and summarizing in accessible manner action necessary to rectify identified problems. Strong oral and written communicator, with ability to exercise judgment to appropriately escalate sensitive issues. Excellent project management and organizational skills with ability to juggle, track, and follow through on active portfolio. Ability to follow established workflow in a busy setting, collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders. Takes on a self-starter approach to discover answers to questions and to generate suggested solutions for complex issues. Must be comfortable with a digital, paper-free operation, using technology, software, databases, and online tools to perform work. Excellent technological and analytical skills, including an advanced knowledge of Excel, Google Applications, Tableau, database management, data visualizations, reporting, and information management. Strong design orientation with ability to manipulate data to produce data visualizations and graphics tailored to the audience. Creates modern, clear, accessible decks tailored to audience, summarizing information and data to effectively tell a story. Demonstrated flexibility in work style, demonstrated ability to adapt successfully to changing work environment and needs. Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with senior leaders and internal and external stakeholders. Action oriented, performance driven and able to thrive in an environment with significant trust and accountability.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Advanced skills with Tableau, Python, R, and other statistical packages; Expert level knowledge of Asana or other project management tools.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00 to USD $110,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
