The Office of Strategy Management (OSM) is hiring a Sr. Business Analyst (SBA) to serve on a growing team in the Whiting School of Engineering (WSE) at Johns Hopkins University (JHU). OSM has a three-pronged strategic approach: support documentation and implementation of departments in achieving their strategic goals, manage and track strategic projects and initiatives, and identify and foster international relationships.
The Sr. Business Analyst will be responsible for managing key projects and initiatives, analyzing and interpreting business data, and leading other OSM programs and partnerships. The SBA must be able to prioritize competing demands to meet required deadlines, work with WSE leadership, faculty, and staff, while independently managing complex projects. They must be able to produce high-quality written reports and present complex information to colleagues and university leadership. As a member of a small, nimble team, they will identify and execute opportunities for improved efficiencies, analyze reports, and create systematic process of comparing and measuring an organization?s performance, practices, processes, or products against those of competitors or industry leaders, while making strategic recommendations.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Analytics & Problem Solving
Expertise in various methodologies (e.g., Business Process Management (BPM), Lean, Six Sigma, Agile) to approach typical and complex situations while being able to adapt to changing circumstances and new requirements. (While experience in these areas is preferred, training may be provided as applicable.)
Conduct executive level stakeholder interviews related to data analysis, data interpretation, and process design to identify, recommend, and solve business problems.
Lead data analysis by ensuring efficient data collection, instructing on analytical choices, conducting research and summarizing conclusions and recommendations to produce high-quality deliverables.
Managing Projects and People
Manage activities to complete assigned work efficiently which includes delegating and using appropriate project and divisional resources.
Lead projects with program and functional managers to develop deliverables, briefings, presentation and workshop materials, infographics, and analyses, among other tasks.
Advanced knowledge of financial, business, and technological practices around the university to effectively support projects.
Manage the assessment of change readiness among stakeholders, identifying and helping mitigate implementation barriers and risks as needed.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
Independently lead stakeholder interviews and/or design sessions by running well organized meetings.
Establish credibility for the project by proactively building strategic working relationships.
Pro-actively seek stakeholder input and cooperation while ensuring project goals are met.
Effectively obtain stakeholder feedback and appropriately respond to their concerns.
Professional Acumen
Demonstrate JHUs core values as well as a high level of self-awareness to respond to all situations and people with poise, professionalism, and appropriate communications.
Communicate effectively and appropriately influence various audiences and levels of project leadership including risks and recommendations to project management.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field.
Three years of related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Experience successfully executing business process redesign, requirements gathering/analysis, and data gathering and analysis responsibilities.
