About the College
Student Support Services program is part of the TRIO family of programs and helps low-income, first-generation, and students with disabilities achieve their dreams of higher education. TRIO/Student Support Services is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
Job Overview
This is a full-time position, the Associate Director will be responsible for all aspects of the Student Support Services project, including program design and implementation, strategic planning and assessment, SSS participant recruitment and support, staff supervision and development, budget management, grant preparation, and federal reporting requirements. This role will design, implement, supervise, and monitor program activities and outcomes in accordance with federal regulations and program objectives. Additionally, it will collaborate with UC/TRIO program staff, the UCBA Student Life. It will serve as the lead student advisor and has a strong interest in student development. This is a grant-funded position.
Essential Functions
Design, implement, supervise, and monitor program activities and outcomes in accordance with federal regulations and program objectives.
Oversee the SSS participant recruitment and selection process.
Provide supervision of professional, graduate and undergraduate staff.
Provide budget management for the program, including monitoring program budgets, budget planning, and expenditures.
Execute the plan of operations per the grant?s guidelines. Lead and consult in the application and writing process of future UCBA TRIO-SSS Program grants.
Maintain accurate data and documentation of all program participants and complete the Annual Performance Report (APR) to the U.S. Department of Education.
Advise prospective SSS participants and current SSS participants on academic strategies for success.
Some travel, nights, and weekends are required.

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree
Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement
Required Experience
Five (5) years related experience
Additional Qualifications Considered
Master?s degree in student affairs, social work, counseling, higher education, or a similar field;
Minimum three years? experience in higher education administration, academic and/or counseling capacity, program design, project management, strategic planning, and evaluation at the college level.
Demonstrated understanding and commitment to first-generation students, and/or students from historically underrepresented groups in higher education and a demonstrated ability to effectively advise and advocate for those students from the target population in a college setting.
Knowledge of TRIO or other higher education academic programs and support services and effective practices supporting student recruitment, retention, and development.
Experience in reporting and budget management.
Demonstrated ability to work with faculty from various disciplines.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience in financial aid counseling and academic advising
