Primary Purpose: The Network Engineer III is the senior position responsible for designing, securing maintaining and installing networking, telecommunications and computer systems, including advanced troubleshooting. This is a leadership role with limited supervision of junior network engineers
Essential Functions:
Leads, designs, acquires, oversees installation, configures, maintains and troubleshoots the University's data and voice infrastructure including PBX, voicemail, call accounting and other voice related systems.
Manages network performance by periodically base-lining capacity and performance and projecting resource usage. Defines, plans, schedules and coordinates 'moves, adds or changes.'
Provides detailed technical analysis for projects requiring network and telecommunications connectivity, including security, telecommunications and wireless.
Develops and monitors network project plans to implement network infrastructure, and coordinates resources to ensure successful implementation.
Designs and oversees performance matrices. Identifies, analyzes and resolves network problems through the use of a variety of monitoring tools.
Establishes and maintains positive vendor relations to ensure adequate technical support and timely problems resolution.
Provides Project Coordination.
Conducts technical research and development. Provides leadership and training of Network Engineer 1 & 2.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma, and 60+ credit hours of continuing education.
Eight (8) years of directly applicable networking/telecommunications experience.
Cisco CCNP or higher.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's or Bachelor's Degree.
One (1) industry-recognized Security Certification.
Ability to design networks, support processes and software in a multi-vendor environment without supervision.
ITIL Foundation.
Palo Alto PCNSE.
Comfortable discussing networking and telecommunications topics with varying levels of personnel from student to the CIO.
Project Coordination experience.
The ability to provide hands-on support and troubleshoot digital media technology systems.
Must be able to comfortably discuss computing topics with varying levels of personnel from student to senior management.
Must be able to provide solutions to integrate various disparate systems in a single service offering using existing knowledge and research.
Solid written communication skills with the ability to write technical documentation or manuals.
Must be able to manage projects and be familiar with project management concepts and risk analysis.
Adepts at reading and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
Ability to conduct research into emerging technology issues and products.
Experience in network and telecommunications infrastructure design, deployment and management.
A proven track record in LAN/WAN, Telecomm system, and Network Security installation and operations, Telecommunications.
Experience with structural, and MEP design concepts.
Experience with Networking and Telecommunications technologies. (ex. WAN, LAN, VPN, ACD, PBX, IEEE Wiring standards, network/telelcomm monitoring tools.)
Experience in server hardware and data center operations.
Experience in Virtualized server infrastructure, systems troubleshooting, and specialized computer applications.
Familiar with traditional programming and scripting languages.
Ability to write a network and/or telecom scope of work and finalize a system deployment and build-out.
Exceptional communication skills including interacting regularly with Architects, Designers and other Trades.
Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude in a fast paced creative environment.
Knowledge of how to lead, empower, and motivate highly creative individuals.
Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.
Must be detail oriented, have multi-tasking abilities and handle tight, high stress deadlines.
Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Duties require extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand and wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional walking, standing and simple grasping. Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Primarily office setting, AV closets and /or data center with exposure to noise and cooler temperatures. Work performed during standard business hours, 8:00AM-5PM, M-F, occasional overtime and hours worked outside of normal schedule may be required to meet business deadlines. Travel may be required to other campuses, meetings or training.
Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University's insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range: $40.45-$55.62 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
