Position Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Clinical Research Analytics, the Analytics Developer ??? Pediatric Cardiology will serve as the Clinical Data Navigator (CDN) for the Division of Pediatric Cardiology and will be active in investigating the analytic needs of the Pediatric Cardiology division. This position will require the individual to design, create, and maintain data structures, reports, dashboards, and related data extracts from various institutional data sources such as Epic and CUIMC???s legacy electronic health records. This individual must be proficient in SQL coding, the use of institutional business intelligence tools, related data models, and best practices for data warehousing as well as in running power analyses.
In addition to development work, this position requires the individual to work with end-users to understand analytic needs and both scope and document technical specifications for requests. This role will require the individual to provide status updates, set user expectations, and generally demonstrate the ability to explain technical solutions to others. This individual must be team oriented and possess strong customer service, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities
Database Development: Proficiently uses MS SQL Server for creating queries and architecting data warehouse tables. (30%)
Analytic Solution Development: Works with end-users and analytics groups across the enterprise to understand analytic needs, provide guidance on optimal existing and potential solutions, and translate operational definitions into application-based, technical specifications. (20%)
Database Management: Takes ownership of existing databases specific to the Division of Pediatric Cardiology and performs data extraction from existing sources such as the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4), New York State (NYS), and Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology Collaborative (PAC3). (10%)
Project Management and Technical Writing: Scopes, develops, distributes, and provides support for content in a timely manner. Takes ownership of assigned incidents and requests by performing in-depth analysis and creating detailed specification forms. Prioritizes multiple requests and maintains a support relationship with all users. (20%)
Statistical Analysis: Conducts power analyses for projects based on data stored in division-specific registries. (5%)
Data Compliance and Best Practices: Maintains knowledge of internal and industry-wide policies, standards, and best practices, including HIPAA, IRB, and data governance policies and procedures to ensure all deliverables meet those standards. (5%)
Continuous Improvement: Seeks out additional training to improve skills in the team???s technologies and new technologies, and to improve soft skills for better client and team relations. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Health Informatics, or a similar discipline.
Three years of related full-time work experience; significant relevant experience may substitute for a degree. A master's degree in a technical discipline may substitute for some years of experience.
Knowledge of best practices for architecting data warehouse tables.
Proficiency in MS SQL, including relational database design and the use of T-SQL, subqueries, and window functions.
Experience with statistical analysis, especially with conducting power analyses.
Epic Cogito, Caboodle, Clarity, and Clinical Data Model certification (or certification within six months of employment).
Excellent decision making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and technical documentation skills with an emphasis on communication, detail and follow up
Preferred Qualifications
One or more Epic certifications in any application.
One year of report development experience utilizing Epic???s database data structures.
Experience with Power BI and/or other popular BI tools.
Experience with reporting on AllScripts data.
Experience with common clinical data coding standards (ICD, CPT, LOINC, RxNorm, etc) and workflows.
