The Academic Media Technology Specialist is a member of the Georgetown University Law Center's Information and Academic Technologies (IAT) group, within Information Systems and Technology (IST). S/he will act as the lead for the day to day maintenance, scheduling, and troubleshooting of the systems that drive the law school's lecture capture initiative, providing regular hardware and software support. This position will also work closely with the rest of the IAT team to ensure the best possible application of Georgetown Law's learning management system. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Serve as a central hub for scheduling classroom recordings, maintaining classroom recording technology and ensuring the successful recording of classes for the Georgetown University Law Center (consolidating responsibilities that are currently spread across a number of positions).
Work closely with relevant UIS Staff to iteratively enhance the workflow for scheduling and implementing recordings.
Work closely with AV staff to liaise on any issue related to AV hardware utilized for distance learning.
Work with the Scheduling Department to ensure recordings and tech needs are met for modified class times/meeting dates.
Play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of training carried out by IAT staff, working with the rest of the IAT team to create and execute a strategy for a more robust catalog of training opportunities for Georgetown Law faculty and staff.
Work closely with members of the Office of Ability Services to ensure recordings are made and managed to meet the needs of our students with accommodations.
Handle 1:1 appointments with faculty, staff, and students to address their lecture capture and learning management needs.
Foster positive relationships with faculty members, understanding their unique needs and delivering innovative solutions to optimize the use of media technology in educational settings.
Work Interactions
The Academic Media Technology Specialist will report to the Director of Instructional Technology Resources. This role has the accountability to independently resolve issues, but receives direction and general supervision from the IAT Director. This position will support the Academic and Instructional Technologies team and work closely with the audio visual team, as necessary. This position will assist the Director of Instructional and Academic technologies with moving the instructional technology initiatives of IST forward.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, preferably in a digital media, instructional technology or related discipline
At least 4 years of work experience in higher-education technology (equivalent work experience in higher education can be substituted for a bachelor's degree)
Working knowledge of lecture capture, video conferencing, learning management and academic software, as well as web publishing, knowledge of online classroom technologies
Demonstrate skill in problem solving, project management, and must have experience working with ticketing software
Experience working directly with faculty and staff as a technology trainer
Ability to to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage multiple projects at once while keeping a focus on fine details
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with academic professionals
Due to the highly agile nature of this position some evenings and weekends will be required at key times of the semester

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
