Under the direction of the, Maintenance and Alterations Electrical Shop Manager, supervise and coordinate the work of Lead Electricians, Electricians, Lead Facilities Mechanics, Facilities Mechanics, and Facilities Workers who are responsible for campus-wide, on-site and off -site University locations projects related to fixed and non-fixed priced jobs for tenant improvement projects, deferred maintenance projects, trouble call issues, and support to all Project Managers for single and multi-craft projects. Incumbent is responsible for the immediate supervision of shop staff including hiring, discipline, evaluation, and termination of employees. Review and coordinate daily schedules and work; interface with client. Write contracts (UPJO, EDPA, PSA etc.) and conduct job site assessment and evaluation; develop and review estimates; resolve project problems, coordinate outages, and ensure job is closed and charged properly; participate in the Disaster Initial Response Team. Under the general direction of the Maintenance and Alterations Electrical Shop Manager, Incumbent manages and ensures the efficiency and productivity of the staff. Provides broad guidelines for projects; independently determines schedules, work assignments and scope of projects. Provide quality customer service by supplying clear and concise communication with client and keeping them informed of their jobs and or projects. Maintain to their best of their ability the cost effective and timely completion of jobs.

Completion of a certified 4-year apprenticeship Satisfactory completion of a certified 4-year apprenticeship or equivalent education and experience. (Preferred)
Working knowledge of electromechanical system, solid state controlled electrical devices, equipment/materials/tools of the trade, of all aspects of the electrical trade and related codes sufficient to direct work, evaluate progress and ensure that craft work assignments meet stated standards. (Required)
Working knowledge of construction specifications, methodologies, scheduling, technical drawings, safety requirements and codes specific to the Electrician trade to prepare work scopes, budgets, schedules, address project related delays/disruptions and complete within stated timeframes and guidelines (Required)
Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and CEC, OSHA general safety rules, equipment, and clothing and California Administrative Codes including Titles 19 22, and 24, ADA, Joint Commission, Dept. Public Health, and OSHPD that may affect project, their projected estimates costs or personnel. (Required)
Working knowledge of various power distribution equipment, auxiliary equipment, motor control systems, basic electrical theory including AC/DC systems applications, and protective relaying. Ability to use a variety of power or hand tools and electronic testing equipment. (Required)
Ability to assist in the troubleshooting/repairing of electrical systems and equipment for malfunctions, signs of damage, deterioration, or adjustment. Skill in monitoring and directing projects for quality control and accurate budgeting of various types of construction projects. (Required)
Skill in mathematical calculations sufficient to prepare budgets, estimates, reports and projects to monitor project costs. Ability to complete projects in a timely manner, organize complex/continuously changing information and maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference or hostility (Required)
Working knowledge of PC/compatible computers utilizing MSOffice,Access, MS Project, Outlook, Visio, Excel and computerized project maintenance system, Maximo. Ability to program panels with manufacturer's supplied software, read project specifications, blue prints and technical trade related manuals (Required)
Ability to speak clear and in a concise manner to obtain and convey accurate information in group settings and in one-on-one situations. Excellent writing and editing skills to compose and proofread professional level copy of letters, proposals, estimates, e-mails to clients, as required. (Required)
Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, maintain a positive and respectful attitude with clients and co-workers, ability to work as part of a team, and skill in communicating with persons of various age, socio- economic, cultural and/or education backgrounds (Required)
Skill in supervising and working knowledge of human resources management sufficient to conduct performance evaluations, counseling, feedback sessions, and implementation of progressive corrective action within a unionized work environment. (Required)
Ability to work independently, follow through on assignment, stand, crawl, walk, stoop, push, pull, lift and lower objects up to 50 lbs. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in wet, humid weather, fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures, and under adverse situations/conditions (dirty, noisy, etc.) (Required)
Ability to exercise sound time management skills, control of projects, work proactively to mitigate complications that may jeopardize deadlines, provide excellent customer service to the UCLA community, vendors and other outside agencies. Able to work overtime, weekends or alternate shifts as needed (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. (Preferred) Or
Must possess a valid California Driver's License and the ability to drive a truck or other light vehicle. (Required)
Possession of a current State of California Electrician certification (Preferred)
