This is an open until filled recruitment for one position. The FOWD will fill this one position at either an Engineer or Project Administrator level.

General Statement of Job
Under general direction of the Assistant General Manager, performs a wide variety of engineering duties related to the design, construction, and project management of Fair Oaks Water District (FOWD) improvement projects and technical reports. Actively updates and maintains the FOWD’s system map, hydraulic model, construction specifications, and records related to projects and technical support. Completes other technical work in support of the of the FOWD.
Job Standards/Specifications
Knowledge of:
Principles of civil engineering as applied to water systems and facilities, public works, and related construction
Methods, materials, system components, and techniques used in the construction of water systems and
Water industry standard specifications and contract
Principles of bidding and contracting for public construction, including contract change orders and
Current Microsoft Office software and software programs for project
Applicable laws and regulatory codes relative to the areas of assigned
Standard business practices such as letter writing, report writing and preparing informational
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documentation and permitting
Financial accounting fundamentals and concepts.
Customer service fundamentals and concepts.
Ability of:
Create improvement plans for the construction of water infrastructure.
Create professional written technical reports.
Create, edit, modify, and amend AutoCAD files.
Create, edit, maintain, and manage a library of the standard drawings, digital maps and exhibits.
Create, modify and interpret hydraulic modeling scenarios utilizing H20NET software. Manage a water system hydraulic model and provide recommendations for necessary updates.
Explain regulations, policies, and procedures to
Professionally and tactfully, provide customer service to the public and other employees in person, over the phone or through electronic
Desired Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or
Two years minimum experience in water system design/public works/municipal
Demonstrated experience in the development of professional written technical reports.
Demonstrated ability to work as a professional engineer.
Any combination of training and experience may qualify if it would provide the skills, knowledge, and abilities to accomplish the job
Required Licenses/Certifications
Valid certificate of registration as an Engineer or Engineer In Training issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional
California Water Distribution System Operator Grade I Certificate within one year of
Valid California Driver's

The District
The Fair Oaks Water District is a special district celebrating 100 years of service to its community of approximately 38,000 residents. The District purchases treated surface water from San Juan Water District and delivers it to approximately 14,000 residential and commercial connections. FOWD also owns and maintains six ground-water wells, 180 miles of pipeline, a 3 million-gallon water tank, a booster station, an administration building, and a facilities yard.
