The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Director of Development for Medical Education for the UAB Medicine/Heersink School of Medicine Advancement team.The primary responsibility of this position is to generate increased private gift support from alumni, individuals, corporations, and foundations by successfully identifying, cultivating, and soliciting assigned prospects. Expected outcomes include intentional meetings with unqualified and/or qualified prospects to build and maintain a portfolio of high-capacity/net-worth prospects. The Director of Development will effectively collaborate with faculty, colleagues, and staff both within their unit and across campus to maximize philanthropic efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Development within the Heersink School of Medicine.
This position is full-time, hybrid eligible after the probationary period.
Responsibilities:
Interface with Deans, Department chairs, and faculty
Develop and implement fundraising strategies and plans
Raise major gifts from multiple donor groups (alumni, corporate/foundations, community, grateful patients)
Strategically build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects
Work with physicians and medical faculty in developing and executing plans to cultivate and solicit grateful patients
Perform other duties as assigned
Annual Salary Range: $70,425-$85,000
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of higher education fundraising or equivalent experience
Minimum of 2 years of major gift experience
Work experience may not substitute for education requirement
Travel required
Driver's License required
