The Department of Music at the State University of New York at Oneonta is amplifying its faculty roster with a full-time Lecturer of Music and Music Industry beginning Fall 2025. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, university service, and continuing professional development.
The Department of Music at the State University of New York at Oneonta, offering BA Music and BA Music Industry degrees, is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and has long been recognized for its Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry degree program. Identified as one of the Top Music Business Schools in the US by Billboard Magazine (2023) the program features outstanding faculty, recording facilities, and internships.
Teaching undergraduate courses in the general music and music industry curricula
Involvement with the curriculum and administration of the music and music industry programs and advising students.
Other duties may include music electives or courses that address other curricular needs or the candidate's specific areas of expertise, as well as teaching other courses to meet department needs.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree at time of appointment in music, music industry, or related fields of study.
Two or more years of professional experience in music or in music industry.
Backgrounds in hip hop, jazz, R&B or other contemporary genres
Two or more years of successful experience teaching at the college/university, conservatory, or specialized music school level.
Preferred:
PhD or DMA in music or related fields
Background in music performance and knowledge of a wide range of contemporary music styles/genres
Ability to teach jazz and popular saxophone.
Ability to lead music performance ensembles.
Proficiency in music technology, audio production, leading Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), or live sound reinforcement.
Background in Music Therapy or Creative Arts Therapies
Collaborative piano capabilities
Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural
