The College of Arts and Humanities is made up of eight departments, eleven interdisciplinary programs and the Poetry Center. The faculty are artists, scholars, writers, and world-class teachers who care deeply about student success and learning. Reporting to the Dean of the CARHU, the Digital Content Specialist plans and executes an integrated cross-channel digital content strategy including creative development, media planning and negotiation, segmentation strategies, market research, internal communications, budget management, and analysis to ensure cohesive marketing efforts that drive results and advance the priorities of the College.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate hands-on experience managing and growing digital communities; the ability to lead and execute creative, innovative campaigns to showcase the academics, student life, and the value of a WCU education; and the ability to collaborate with campus partners to implement best practices and quantify results.
Responsibilities include:
Manage the day-to-day content creation and posting on CARHU and department digital channels, websites, and social media channels
Manage the renewal of paid digital communication channels including Constant Contact and Flickr
Oversee and coordinate weekly and monthly email blasts
Provide guidance and hands-on support for live coverage of on- and off-campus events
Collaborate with the CARHU Dean?s Office and faculty teams to evaluate and introduce innovative marketing and communications solutions
Help college units refine messaging and create language and visuals for internal, student, parent, and external communication
Serve as liaison for the CARHU with the Office of Communications and Marketing
Develop outcome-based stories and accompanying materials to showcase the academics, student life, and the value of a WCU education
Supervise and mentor the Equity Communications Coordinator intern
Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of web-based and social media communications
Keep abreast of competitors? use of web and other multimedia methods of marketing and emerging technologies
Collaborate with WCU Web Team to maintain and update CARHU college and department web pages
Provide recommendations to increase web page ease of use and accessibility
Manage photography and videography schedule for the CARHU
Maintain the CARHU?s digital assets including photo, video, and other materials
Provide social media support and training for staff and faculty
Attend College and University meetings
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in the arts, Graphic or Interactive Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
Two years of professional work experience in marketing, communications, social media management, and/or utilization of digital media
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Adobe Suite
Demonstrated experience managing digital communities
Experience working in an educational, non-profit, or community organization
Experience with digital graphic design
Experience creating photography and video for promotional purposes
