Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) is home to more than 400 scientists and accounts for more than half of Georgetown University's extramural research funding. As its mission states, the medical center seeks to provide, in a synergistic fashion, excellence in education - training physicians, nurses, and other health sciences professionals, as well as biomedical scientists - and cutting-edge interdisciplinary research collaboration, enhancing our basic science and translational biomedical research capacity in order to improve human health.
The Senior Budget & Planning Manager works with the Clinical & Centers Administrative Team within the Biomedical Graduate Research Organization (BGRO). The team works with 68 active areas to include: 19 Clinical Departments & Chairs and 59 Centers to include International Research. This is a large body of work that requires skills in multi-year budgeting, sponsored award management and a strong understanding on how our MMG partner builds their annual budget, and how GUMC fits into the larger University picture. We have successfully worked with a key stakeholders, Department Chairs, Faculty, administrators and clinical researchers. Our work is fast-paced, dynamic, and ever changing to meet the needs of the strategic initiatives of our area. The goal of this position is to provide reliable and timely financial information as requested. It will require a person that is very organized with highly effective communication skills and the ability to be flexible, moving from task to task in a safe self-paced environment. Duties include but are not limited to:
Create a 5-year budget plan by Clinical Department and/or Center.
Prepare quarterly financial reports that are shared and reviewed with the designated lead from that area.
Forecast year-end projections, managing and forecasting personnel costs.
Review and approve financial transactions in alignment with our policies/procedures and within budget.
Work Interactions Reporting directly to the Senior Business Manager, the Senior Budget &Planning Manager works closely with other staff members on our team, Department Chairs, MedStar Clinical Partner, Faculty and other Administrators to ensure that our community has reliable and timely financial information.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
5-7years of relevant professional experience, or Master degree or higher in a relevant area of study
Understanding and ability to understand budgets, budget preparation, and related reporting
Financial acumen necessary to review and analyze expenditures against budget plans
Ability to run, compile, and analyze reports with an understanding of financial forecasting and an ability to learn financial and budget strategies
Understand (and develop, interpret, and implement) financial concepts for financial planning, resource planning, and control of organizational budget
Ability to foster open communication, with strong communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to utilize interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders (staff, administrators, faculty)
Ability to triage challenges and requests, resolving or escalating issues for resolution as necessary with adaptability and flexibility
Ability to apply subject matter knowledge requiring capacity to understand specific needs or requirements and apply skills and knowledge (recognized as a subject matter expert within organization and assigned area)

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $66,783.00 - $126,720.23
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
