The Principal, Planning & Consulting will have a direct impact on the planning and execution of a new collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center including planning of the proposed adult inpatient hospital. The Dana-Farber Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Collaboration will advance Dana-Farber's long-term goal of creating a fully integrated oncology campus for adult inpatient and outpatient care, as well as research.

The Principal, Planning and Consulting supports Institute leadership's planning and decision-making regarding the company?s most critical business issues and strategic priorities.
The Principal, Planning and Consulting independently, in partnership with, or as surrogate for, Director/Sr. Director, leads the process of facilitating Institute leadership decision making regarding critical planning (clinical, research, operational) opportunities, providing analyses, alternatives and advice on highly complex issues to support decision making.

Supports Institute and department level planning through activities such as: scenario planning, environmental evaluations, contingency planning, visioning sessions, and focused 'deep dive' analysis of various strategic topics.
In partnership with Director/Sr. Director, serves as team lead on multiple highly complex projects, with impacts at the Institute level.
Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams and interacts independently with leader at all levels of the organization (including C-Suite).
Leads conducting and synthesis of stakeholder interviews and engages in other research methods to provide detailed analyses to inform strategic planning (quantitative and qualitative, internal and market related).
Develops, and oversees development by others, of clear and effective meeting materials, presentations, and project collateral, ensuring highest levels of precision and value delivery.
Acts as surrogate for Director/Senior Director on most complex planning engagements.
Manages all aspects of client relationships throughout the project lifecycle, including project initiation, execution, and closeout.
Identifies and highlights likely business and financial impacts associated with program planning or expansion, as well as required implementation support key dependencies, issues, and risks to serve as input to prioritization and planning process.
Conducts impact analyses to assess Institutional/stakeholder readiness for change adoption and applies change management processes and tools to support adoption of change. Supports the design, development, delivery, and management of project/change related communications.
Ensures transfer of knowledge and responsibilities to owning operational areas prior to close-out of projects.
Significant contributor to Planning and Consulting staff development, as well as internal departmental process and performance improvement.
Provides high level of expertise related to strategic planning across a range of ongoing projects or issues.
Provides expertise in creating, utilizing, and refining a standard set of strategy development, consulting, and business planning tools.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May manage a small number of staff members. Provides training and guidance to others, including project team members.
Minimum Experience: 10 years of experience in strategic planning, business planning, consulting, project management, healthcare administration, or similar field required.
Expert-level knowledge of strategic planning, change management, and consulting practices.
Deep and broad knowledge of the healthcare environment; experience working with faculty a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to deliver presentations to a wide variety of audiences; ability to interact regularly and confidently with C-Suite executives.
Expert level interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate highly complex projects through a consensus-driven environment.
Master level skills in organizational and time management with the ability to prioritize projects in connection with Institutional strategic priorities.
Ability to convert client needs into strategic planning frameworks, providing guidance and thought partnership to internal stakeholders.
Ability to act as thought partner to Director/Sr. Director regarding departmental and project performance.
Ability to navigate challenging interpersonal dynamics and facilitate through difficult conversations towards resolution.
