Under general supervision, this position will provide career mentorship and counseling to the most important constituency of our law school community, our students. The Assistant Director will advise students in developing and implementing individualized career plans, conduct mock interviews, facilitate workshops and panels, and collect graduate employment data. The Assistant Director will also create and conduct career and professional development programs. This is a hybrid position eligible to work 2 days per week remotely and 3 days per week in the office, which is located in downtown Los Angeles.
Position Specific Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Provide individualized counseling to students and graduates on career and professional development matters.
Review and provide feedback on student and alumni resumes and cover letters.
Coach students and graduates on interviewing skills through mock interviews.
Serve as a resource to students applying for field placements, clinics, public interest and government positions, law firm jobs, diversity fellowships, JD Advantage careers, and other employment and experiential learning opportunities.
Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with employers to facilitate job opportunities for Loyola students and recent graduates.
Generate regular reports and provide to the Deans, Directors, CDO staff, and other constituents.
Analyze data to help identify trends and develop strategies that can aid students and alumni in their job searches, improve office services, maximize job opportunities, increase law school admissions, etc.
Gather information and provide support for the production of informational and statistical employment reports and surveys produced by the department.
Support colleagues in department-wide initiatives such as the On-Campus Interview (OCI) Program, Meet the Firms, Public Interest and Government Careers Fair, Law Firm Reception, Diversity Week, and the Mock Interview Program.
Assist the administrative team in welcoming and serving students, employers, and other Career Development guests.
Perform other related duties and assist with special projects as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in a related field or J.D. from an ABA accredited law school is preferred.
At least two years of professional experience in career services, legal recruiting, practicing law, or other related experience.
Strong public speaking, writing and group facilitation skills. Capacity to build and maintain relationships with alumni, employers, and leaders in legal professional development. Ability to work closely with faculty members, including faculty committees. Highly developed organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills to successfully manage a large volume of diverse tasks/projects. Ability to successfully manage multiple colleagues to coordinate large initiatives or efforts. Demonstrated good judgment, patience, empathy, and ability to relate to students and alumni from diverse backgrounds in advising them about career paths, negotiating employment, and thriving in employment. Ability to remain calm and professional when faced with a challenging/sensitive situation and respond with tact and diplomacy. Highly developed sense of empathy, patience and resilience. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and implement projects to meet established deadlines and goals. Take initiative and be resourceful in work processes. Must be able to work independently while exercising good judgment and decision-making.
Attention to detail and accuracy are essential in composing and proofing materials and reports.
Excellent oral and written customer service skills required. Provide concise and clear communications, reports, letters, etc.
Possess highly developed organizational, analytical and program solving skills to successfully manage a large volume of diverse tasks/projects.
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, often with conflicting or moving deadlines.
Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of relevant systems.
