Position Summary
The department of Epidemiology is seeking a short term casual with skills in 3D computer modeling,
digital animation production, virtual reality authoring, and augmented reality authoring to assist a
faculty member in developing new course materials. The course module with use 3D data on molecular
structures from the Protein Data Bank (PDB) to create a series of learning materials on chemical
carcinogenesis that will be delivered via: MP4 video files using stereoscopic anaglyph representations of
the molecules; 2) augmented or virtual reality delivered on a tablet of cellphone; 3) virtual reality
headsets; and 4) via MS PowerPoint???s 3D model function. Molecular structures will need to be
converted from PDB format to 3D mesh models that can be imported in Maya, Blender, Rhino or 3D
Studio max for editing and animation and then exported to augmented/virtual reality authoring tools.
The successful candidate will work with Dr. Andrew Rundle on developing visualization, animations, text
and audio that meet the course learning objectives and teach the students about the importance of 3D
structure in molecular carcinogenesis. No knowledge of carcinogenesis is required on the employees
part.

Preferred Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a college program and having completed relevant coursework or in a Masters
program having taken relevant coursework. Relevant courses cover: game design, instructional design,
3D animation, 3D modeling, Computer special effects. Experience in a relevant 3D modeling/animation
program such as Maya, 3D Studio Max, Rhino or Blender. Experience in authoring tools for virtual reality
content.
Successful applicants will be: 1) detail oriented; 2) able to work independently; 3) have access to a
computer and internet, and will have completed prior projects using 3D models and virtual reality tools.
