JobDescription:
The Assistant Director, StudentPhilanthropy, reports to the Associate Director, Young Alumni Giving and isresponsible for the implementation and oversight of programs to educate andengage undergraduate students on philanthropy at Boston College.
Responsibilities include:
- Recruit, educate, train, motivate, and communicate regularly with a group of 50 to 60 volunteers from the senior class. The committee is responsible for creating a culture of giving annually to BC by soliciting a gift from every senior to drive a robust Senior Legacy campaign. Each committee member will be responsible for contacting a minimum of 75 classmates personally throughout the year both in-person and virtually.
- Educate the committee on the impact philanthropy has on the entire campus community and why annual gifts, of any size, are important for BC. The Assistant Director will facilitate this education so the members can relay the importance of giving back to their classmates and ask them to consider a gift.
- Establish an environment and culture of collaboration and leadership for the committee that involves measuring success both through educational outreach and fundraising success. Provide the tools for the leaders of the committee to take ownership for their class campaign to promote accountability and motivate success.
- In partnership with Annual Giving, BC Alumni Association, Programs and Events, and Advancement Communications and Marketing, manage a calendar of direct marketing (digital, email, social) and programming of milestone events. Will work with partners on operations and execution of calendar.
- Identify opportunities to educate and engage all undergraduate alumni on philanthropy. For example, collaborate with University and Advancement partners to grow awareness of the Legacy Grants program, which awards funding for student service projects and is funded through the success of the senior gift campaign.
- Work with partners in Advancement Information Systems to build processes and reports to optimize timely gift operations, acknowledgement procedures, and accurate reporting of progress. Identify and assist with implementation of new technologies that support the fundraising work of the senior gift campaign.
- Maintain and improve process as it relates to efficiencies in volunteer management, gift gathering and processing, data entry and database management, internal reporting, goal setting and achievement, and event logistics.
- The Assistant Director is expected to travel locally and regionally to recruit volunteers. The individual will have metrics for both committee recruitment and donor participation. They will also assist in the direct solicitation of the most recent undergraduate alumni classes.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $57,800 to $72,250; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
RequirementsThis position requires a Bachelor'sdegree and a minimum of 1-2 years fundraising experience or related experience.A proven track record of innovation and the ability to work well in a goaloriented and fast paced environment is required. Experience working with undergraduatestudents in higher education is ideal.
The Assistant Director is requiredto have excellent spoken, written and interpersonal communication skills and ademonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education andthe Jesuit tradition in particular. The individual must be organized, comfortablewith speaking in front of others, be innovative and have the ability tomultitask. The ability to work well in a goal oriented and fast pacedenvironment is preferred. Demonstratedability to work collaboratively across teams and being open to feedback andcoaching is essential to the role.
Proficiency with Google Suiteapplications, MS Office suite is required, advanced skills with Microsoft Excelis preferred. Experience with the following software is a plus: Blackbaud CRM,Evertrue Volunteer Management (or other volunteer system) and GiveCampus (orother crowdfunding platform). Travel, evening, and weekend work is required tofulfill responsibilities. A valid driver's license is required.
