Job Description
SUMMARY
Under administrative leadership, it is the responsibility of part time faculty to perform tasks which support advancement of the visions, missions, and values of the colleges and District. Part time faculty have responsibilities in regards to their classroom assignment, evaluation of students, curriculum, student advising, professional development, and any assignment-specific needs.
A bachelor's degree in any subject and two years of experience in Office Technology, OR
any associate degree in any subject and six years of experience in Office Technology, OR
The equivalent.

We are currently looking for a Medical Coding and Billing instructor experienced in distant learning instruction. The instructor will be responsible for teaching students to:
Analyze and abstract the procedural and diagnostic information necessary for proper coding from patient medical information.
Differentiate from a list of procedures and diagnoses, the appropriate use of CPT and ICD-9-CM codes.
Evaluate basic outpatient code abstraction processes, using CPT and ICD-9-CM coding references.
Demonstrate knowledge of the six sections of the CPT codebook, special section guidelines, and the correct method for verification of code descriptions.
Evaluate and identify the use of modifiers with CPT codes.
Accurately identify the proper codes for medical procedures and evaluation and management codes, using the CPT and ICD-9-CM codebooks.
Accurately identify the appropriate medical terms, using the ICD-9-CM codebook.
Demonstrate ICD-9-CM coding knowledge of Volumes 1 and 2, E codes, V codes and the use of the supplemental appendices.
Demonstrate knowledge of the correct use of 4th and 5th digits for specificity of coding.
Demonstrate the use of a medical coding software system. (Medisoft)
WORKING CONDITIONS: Faculty positions may require long periods of standing and walking in a typical classroom setting. Specific conditions may vary by subjects taught.
