The Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical services (prescriptions, unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical infusion pumps and teaching) throughout the Medical Center complex 24 hours per day. The Department is comprised of three inpatient and six outpatient pharmacies, a sterile production lab and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores and distribution.

Responsibilities
This position is the pharmacy manager responsible for leading and managing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services in Acute Care. The Manager will work closely with the Assistant Chief of Inpatient Clinical Services to identify areas of improvement, implement solutions, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote operational effectiveness and efficiency. The Manager will ensure clinical pharmacy services maintain compliance with State and Federal regulations, Joint Commission, and professional practice standards, as well as University and department policies, procedures, and standards. The Manager will serve as the hiring manager and direct supervisor for the clinical pharmacists and technician supervisors on the acute care pharmacy team. The Manager plans and coordinates the development of pharmacists and technicians to meet regulatory requirements and patient needs and will maintain oversight of documentation and assessment of staff competency and training. Works with the Assistant Chief Pharmacist Officer and other members of the management team to plan, implement and monitor new programs and processes that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of pharmacy services. Serve as departmental liaison with Patient Care Services and other departments. Participates on departmental and interdisciplinary committees. Other key responsibilities include, but are not limited to team building, clinical team optimization, and the development of practice related policies/procedures and guidelines which promote medication safety, the appropriate use of medications, inventory control, formulary and regulatory compliance, and optimal patient outcomes.
The Manager may also participate in clinical and operational assignments. Their responsibility is to provide delivery of optimal drug therapy. This includes appropriate drug selection, administration, dosing, and computer order processing. They also monitor drug therapy to achieve desired outcomes and avoid drug toxicity. They work as an integral part of the patient care team and assists physicians and nurses in providing drug therapy.
Required Qualifications

California License or License eligible. Must obtain and provide CA licensure within six months of hire.
Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
Prior management experience within in a hospital setting or completion of a Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency
The manager must remain competent on the ever-changing regulations around pharmacy practice by the Board of Pharmacy.
The manger must have foundational managerial skills to lead a team in a dynamic environment as well as be a high accountable and organized project manager for operational and informatics projects.
The manager must be an excellent communicator and be able to interact and connect with front line staff as well as executive leaders inside pharmacy and outside pharmacy.
Preferred Qualifications
BPS Board Certification (e.g. BCPS) or equivalent preferred
LEAN Certification
Academic Medical Center experience
Master's degree (MHA, MBA, MS) or equivalent preferred
Strategic planning experience
Previous EPIC or equivalent CPOE preferred
