Summary The Midwest Grape and Wine Industry Institute at Iowa State University seeks to hire a Program Specialist II to provide educational programming to wineries and breweries within the state of Iowa and surrounding states. The Program Specialist will advance the wine and beer industry through hands-on training, mentoring, and educational activities. Specific tasks will include visits to wineries and breweries to assist in production strategies and troubleshooting, addressing industry needs through educational resources and workshops, and raising awareness of the resources available through the MGWII. Â In collaboration with the MGWII staff, it is expected that the Program Specialist will also contribute to the research missions of the MGWII which are to develop techniques and strategies that optimize wine quality made from grape varieties available in the region, and to promote the growing craft beer industry.Â
Example of Duties â¢ Manages a program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with the objectives of the university. â¢ Plans, monitors, and manages an internal or external project from initiation through completion. â¢ Leads or coordinates project planning, resourcing, and staffing for assigned program. â¢ Monitors and manages budget and ensures that the program meets the overall objectives of the university. â¢ Develops public relations initiatives, workshops, seminars, surveys, or other activities to promote the program and carry out its objectives. â¢ Acts as a representative of the program. â¢ Participates in project management. â¢ May secure external funding as needed.
