Grade 1 operator Water Distribution License, within first 6 months of employment.
Experience installing or operating steam systems. Experience operating domestic water systems.Â Experience installing large piping in trenches.Â Experience operating excavation equipment.Â Experience reading blueprints or drawings for utilities.Â Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations (confined spaces, asbestos, excavation, PPE, traffic control).Â Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot complex issues.Â
The Power Plant is seeking qualified candidates for the Pipefitter position. Under general supervision, applies knowledge and skill at the journey level to install and repair piping, fixtures, appliances and appurtenances related to steam, water and drainage systems, and performs other duties related to incidental thereto.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
â¢ Performs all duties listed under Plumber.
â¢ Installs, repairs, and maintains centralized water systems (reverse osmosis, deionized water systems, and chilled and heating water systems).
â¢ Installs and repairs piping systems (low and medium pressure steam, acid waste, glycol, storm water, vacuum piping, fuel gas, condensate, and fused piping systems).
â¢ Installs, repairs, and maintains programmable water heaters, digital mixing valves, air lines/pneumatic control valves, radiators, convectors, autoclaves.
â¢ Installs humidification and filtering equipment, heating and cooling coils, traps and, gas unit heaters, radiant heating, fan coil units, , air compressors, air dyers and associated non-automated controls, chiller tube bundles, heat exchangers, and emerging technology on equipment and systems.
â¢ Operates/capable of using or performing:Â Building Automation Systems, sewer snakes/cameras, thermal imaging tools, hydronic flow rate calculations, and threading pipe.
â¢ Reads and interprets schematics, diagrams, and specifications.
â¢ Performs general sheet metal work as required.
â¢ Assists in directing the work of apprentices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
â¢ Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the pipefitting trade.
â¢ Knowledge of welding techniques and equipment.
â¢ Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
â¢ Knowledge of applicable building code requirements.
â¢ Ability to plan and perform work involving the installation, modification, and repair of new and existing piping systems.
â¢ Awareness of controls and electrical systems.
