Summary of Position
NRECA's Internal and Member Communications group is looking for a summer intern to join our creative, collaborative and dynamic team. The NRECA internal and member communications intern will support strategic communication projects designed to build closer relationships between NRECA and its employees, its member cooperatives, and between electric cooperatives and the end-use consumer-members they serve.
Primary assignments will include creating content for a variety of platforms and audiences using a variety of mediums including written, digital, and video. The intern will also provide logistical support for long- term projects and aid the team in meeting project goals.
Produce multimedia content (including articles, short videos, and simple graphics) for the employee Intranet and internal newsletter.
Work with NRECA's Workplace Inclusion Networks and Engagement Committee to promote their events and contributions, resulting in increased employee engagement.
Work with stakeholders across the organization to streamline and organize Intranet content to improve employee user experience. Similarly, work with internal stakeholders to conduct quality control assessments within the communications section of our member-facing website.
Collaborate on deliverables for our high-profile, multifaceted consumer-member engagement program.
Create print-based and interactive content for publication utilized by co-ops across the country.
Collaborate on deliverables for various NRECA-sponsored awards programs.
Required Qualifications and Skills
A current Junior/rising Senior seeking an undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations.
Ability to work successfully in a hybrid workplace that includes remote team members.
Ability to learn new systems and processes and quickly incorporate them into the daily work.
Ability to organize and manage time effectively.
Pays close attention to detail and review work for quality.
A strong team player with good interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
Exercises good judgment related to escalating issues and requesting assistance when needed.
Experience in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, printer, fax machine or other job-related equipment.
Essential Physical Requirements
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
