Turnaround Management Association (TMA), a not-for-profit professional international association in downtown Chicago, is searching for an experienced Director of Membership. This individual would work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team in leading the organization's day-to-day membership operations and the membership team on membership development/retention strategy, data management and chapter relations. The person would possess a strong business acumen, leadership abilities and experience, project management experience, strong work ethic and problem-solving skills to help drive results.

What is the Opportunity?
Under the leadership of the CEO, the position is responsible for leading TMA's overall membership operations and strategy. More specifically they would be responsible for the following:
Lead the membership team, including supervision, coaching, support, and development of team members, as well as strategizing and implementing decisions regarding the membership team.
Work with membership team to implement or update departmental SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures).
Develop and implement retention and recruitment strategy for existing and potential new members.
Assess the dues' structure, dues rates, and membership benefits and propose changes.
Propose membership quantity goals to the CEO, Executive Board, and Board of Trustees including sharing or publishing any related metrics.
Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications to develop and execute long-range and annual strategies designed to achieve membership recruitment and retention goals.
Perform strategic market analysis to determine what products or services to promote and what will appeal to the end user.
Develop annual budgets for the allocation of staff and financial resources that optimize the effectiveness of all membership recruitment and retention initiatives.
Oversee the management of all membership data in the AMS (Association Management System) including any reporting as well as the processes and distribution of any communication related to annual membership renewals.
Serve as staff liaison to the Chapter Presidents Council, Chapter Resource Committee and Response Committee.
Build and maintain effective relationships with Chapter Presidents and others in Chapter leadership, through active ongoing communication and traveling to chapter meetings as necessary.
Support the CEO in Global initiatives related to chapters, chapter relations, membership, and governance.
Share in the day-to-day operations of the organization as it relates to the duties of the position. (i.e. special projects, conferences, logistics etc.)
Other responsibilities as assigned or as needed.
Job Location: Flexible hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of three days in the office (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).
Relocation assistance will not be provided for out-of-state candidates.

What qualifications are needed?
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in related field preferred.
Minimum 8 plus years of experience managing membership programs in a member-driven organization preferred.
Minimum three years in a leadership, supervisory role with responsibility for a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Teams.
Database experience, preferably with a leading association management software program (iMIS, Abila, Personify, Association Anywhere preferred).
Strong experience in staff and budget management, with excellent leadership, team-building, and collaboration skills.
Superior interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to present data in a logical, concise manner.
Manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
Adapt to changing direction of projects and strategies.
Interact well with vendors, peers, staff and volunteer leadership.
Must maintain confidentiality and a high level of discretion.
Willingness to travel nationally (up to four times a year) to assist with TMA's events.
