Position Summary:
The incumbent acts as both a functional and technical leader in the development, upgrade, enhancement and support of Research Information systems, including both Clinical and Financial applications. Independently maintains and manages large modules of an enterprise clinical information system or department specialty system. Facilitates decisions and work efforts which affect applications and patient care practices. Participates in the analysis and design of data communication links between systems. The incumbent will work with Research community stakeholders to understand the operational requirements and to identify opportunities for system enhancements in support of these requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
Excellent organizational and planning skills and ability to manage multiple activities and varied deadlines
Demonstrated ability to problem solve, think critically and creatively, and provide leadership through a consultative role
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Bachelors Degree in related field
Ability to function as a project leader and project member
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
Working knowledge of inpatient and/or ambulatory clinic workflows
Experience using/implementing/supporting an EMR in a hospital and/or ambulatory setting
Ability to self-initiate and effectively problem solve issues
Understanding of Epic User Security
Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems, develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner
Knowledge and experience with three to four areas of focus in Research applications specialty area(s
Knowledge of operations, systems and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation
Minimum five years direct Research Operations and/or Research Systems experience
Epic Research Certification (Completion of RSCH 100, 200 and 405, or equivalents); or obtain within six months of hire
1-2 years' experience in project management or acting in a lead capacity on project teams.
Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for the purpose of problem resolution
Must be willing to participate in 24 hour on-call rotations as a system duty officer
Must have working knowledge of client/server systems, relational database structures and reporting tools
Preferred Qualifications:
Project Coordination / management experience
Experience with Data Courier
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
Must possess a working knowledge of HL7 and other interface/integration strategies
