Position Details:
Summary of Duties: The Facilities Director is a member of the Finance & Administration leadership team and reports to the Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration. The Facilities Director is expected to effectively lead and manage the campus Facilities Services department while creating a positive and supportive service-focused culture. The Facilities Director oversees long-range planning and management of facilities and is responsible for the maintenance, custodial, and grounds services on the Tri-Cities campus. The Facilities Director also provides strategic direction and leadership to the campus in areas such as energy efficiency, resource conservation, recycling, and campus accessibility. This position is directly involved with the university's capital budget process and works with the Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration on capital planning initiatives including new construction, renovations, minor capital requests, and other projects. Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, construction management, or similar field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may substitute for the education requirement.
Experience in one or more of the following areas; Engineering, Construction Management and Planning, and/or facilities management.
Demonstrated leadership experience and project management experience
Excellent understanding and knowledge of one or more crafts.
Experience coordinating with and/or acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies.
Demonstrated success in organizational planning and management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Bargaining Unit employees.
Must have or be able to obtain at the time of hire, a valid driver's license.
Be willing to travel and work occasional weekends and evenings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and/or policies.
Experience which has included demonstrated competence to perform coordination of planning, design, and construction of major capital improvement projects.
Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
