Detailed Job Description The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Program at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT; https://www.rit.edu/liberalarts/department-womens-gender-and-sexuality-studies) seeks a lecturer with an open specialization in the field, to begin August 2024. Situated within a vibrant technological university with a strong commitment to liberal and fine arts, in a dynamic city with a rich history of feminist and civil rights activism, the WGSS program offers interdisciplinary courses that explore and question the intersections of gender, sexuality, culture, ethnicity, social class and race. This position will support our new B.S. in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies as well as minors and immersions in a number of subfields.
Qualifications: The successful applicant will have in hand at the time of appointment a PhD (preferred) or an MA or MS in women's, gender, or sexuality studies, or in a related humanities or social sciences field with a thesis/dissertation focused on women's, gender, or sexuality studies topics. If the applicant does not have a thesis or dissertation of this sort, they may instead demonstrate evidence of substantial work in the field. The successful applicant will provide evidence of teaching experience, promise, and/or excellence; evidence of service experience and/or potential to serve at program, college, and university levels; and a demonstrated interest in curricular development. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated area of specialization in or at the intersection of one or more of the following: BIPOC feminisms, disability studies, deaf studies, global or transnational feminisms, queer studies, science, technology, health, or transgender studies. We seek candidates who approach their subject matter using intersectional, interdisciplinary, multicultural, and global perspectives.
Lecturer faculty generally teach a 4/4 load, with an appropriate service complement. Teaching assignments include introductory courses, upper-level core courses in topics, theories, and methods, capstones and independent studies, and opportunities to develop courses in the candidate's areas of specialization. Experience teaching WGSS courses is preferred. RIT lecturers have ample opportunity for professional development and career advancement. Service includes the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the running and governance of the WGSS Program via participation on the WGSS Council.

Required Minimum Qualifications
MA, or MS in womens, gender, or sexuality studies or a related humanities or social sciences field with either a thesis/dissertation focused on womens, gender, or sexuality studies or evidence of substantial work in the field. PhD (preferred)
A demonstrated specialization in one or more of the following: BIPOC feminisms, disability studies, deaf studies, global or transnational feminisms, queer studies, science, technology and information studies, health studies, or transgender studies.
Evidence of independently teaching college courses (with teaching in WGSS courses preferred).
Demonstrate a fit with the WGSS program mission, teaching, and service needs.
Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the colleges continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
