BH is seeking a Data Privacy Specialist to join our team and contribute to the development and deployment of a comprehensive privacy program to mitigate privacy risks across the organization. Key responsibilities of this position include privacy operations support, privacy compliance activities, evaluating and recommending process improvements and technology solutions, data analytics, documentation of critical actions, privacy consultations, and resolving data subject access requests.
The role requires an understanding of current privacy regulations and methodologies. It also requires an understanding of business goals and strategy, as well as overlaying regulatory knowledge with that understanding to implement operational requirements in a fast-paced environment. The privacy specialist acts as a liaison to business stakeholders to assess and advise on how data privacy is accounted for in business operations and to influence stakeholders to understand the importance of privacy. In tandem with IT, business analytics, legal and compliance teams, the privacy specialist solves complex privacy problems and minimizes the companyâ™s risk to privacy-related requirements.
The privacy specialist knows substantive privacy requirements and can apply practical relevant experience in the application of these requirements, recommends practical and effective solutions to issues with no established precedent, evaluates and develops a range of alternative solutions along with corresponding costs and benefits, and supports internal clients by simplifying complex privacy problems into concepts that could be understood and used in making decisions.
Responsibilities
This role will primarily support implementing operational processes of the corporate business units and operations support teams in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulations, as well as assisting or leading key strategic priorities of BH
Key responsibilities of this position include privacy operations support, privacy compliance activities, evaluating and recommending process improvements and technology solutions, data analytics, documentation of critical actions, privacy consultations, and resolving data subject access requests
Coordinate with department peers for model document development, review, approval, maintenance, and exception procedures for these types of privacy documents (e.g., playbooks, policies, procedures, templates, guidelines and tools)
Assist in documenting requirements for the development and/or enhancement of privacy program technology solutions and provide training related to the program
Support reporting and analysis to identify themes/trends, new risks, and mitigation strategies
Assist with projects/strategies to enhance BH privacy and confidentiality preparedness based on emerging trends and risks
Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of technology solutions to enhance confidentiality and privacy processes and support data analytics and insights to identify new risks and mitigation strategies
Assist with and facilitate outreach efforts across relevant departments to provide insight into the risk appetite and current risk posture
Monitor and ensure appropriate handling of incoming privacy requests and complaints from data subjects
Stay informed of current threats and trends, pending industry changes, and best practices to assess the potential impact on organization processes, policies, or procedures
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, privacy or compliance related field and a minimum of three (3) years of related professional experience required with 1+ year of related experience in compliance, information technology, privacy, law, data science or protection, or related field. An understanding of basic data privacy concepts and applicable regulations is minimally required
One or more of the following professional certifications preferred: CIPP, CIPT, CIPM CISSP, CRISC, CISA, or sufficient demonstrated experience and/or formal education in Privacy and Compliance
Knowledge of technology frameworks and how privacy controls apply to them
