The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Senior Director of Prospect Research.This position manages a team of prospect research and management analysts and provides dynamic and analytical leadership to the Prospect Research and Management unit. This includes developing strategic initiatives focused on prospect identification/research and relationship management to support the overall fundraising goals for the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Office of Advancement.
This area is responsible for identifying prospects to achieve the university's fundraising priorities, and for advising development staff in the strategic management of donor relationships. The Senior Director will provide insight and direction in operational and cultural practices by managing an integrated model designed to synthesize prospect management into a true collaborative partnership with the university's development officers.
The Senior Director will also provide critical direction managing processes to optimize development officer portfolios, implement methods to evaluate and monitor portfolio productivity and ensure the effective capture of relationship management data. They will design efficient systems and processes and provide leadership to a team of prospect research and management analysts to ensure that the value of development officer portfolios is increased and that philanthropic potential is optimized through the development of appropriate cultivation and solicitation strategies.
The Senior Director is expected to be a subject matter expert in a wide array of research tools and databases, financial analysis for wealth assessment, and products related to overall research analysis and to make recommendations to Advancement leadership on products required for the unit to achieve maximum results.
This position is hybrid-eligible after the probationary period.
Responsibilities:
Develop strategic vision and goals for a comprehensive prospect management and research program.
Provides strategic leadership of all portfolio management activities, including regular meetings with frontline fundraisers, portfolio analysis and education, and assisting fundraisers with regard to moves management, analyzing prospect data, and tracking metrics and activities in the database.
Serves as part of the leadership team in preparation of comprehensive campaigns including making recommendations for any CRM platforms, business intelligence tools, etc. needed for the successful completion of the campaign.
Ensure compliance with business practices, fundraising systems and information gathering that conforms to privacy and ethics standards as dictated by the Association of Professional Researchers in Advancement and in compliance with FERPA/HIPAA/GDRP policies and guidelines.
Annual Salary Range: $73,945 - $95,000
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or a related field
Minimum of eight years of relationship management experience preferably in higher education advancement or equivalent experience
Advanced user of research tools, analytical databases, and reporting applications
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of CRM management systems
Extensive knowledge of development and campaign planning/management strategies
Strategic planning, forecasting, and goal-setting experience
Understanding of fundraising in a complex organization, preferably higher education
Advanced Project Management skills - the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
Ability to achieve results while working in a collaborative team environment
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
