ALUMNI EXTERNAL REL SPEC 4 (External Relations and Development Program Manager)
Department Description
The School of Education was established in 2002, building on an 85-year tradition at UC Davis of working to strengthen public education. The School offers preparation for the California teaching credential, master's and doctoral-level programs for educational researchers and practitioners, and professional development for educators throughout Northern California. The School has over 40 full time senate and clinical faculty and 80 staff. The School's total budget is over $30 million, and is comprised of state general funds, tuition and self-supporting revenue.
The School also supports a dynamic and diverse program of research. Faculty members and graduate students conduct research in numerous areas as diverse as academic language and literacy, college access and persistence, community and citizen science, autism and education, and much more. In addition to the academic programs, the School is home to eight Research and Innovation Centers and the federally funded College Opportunity Programs, serving over 7,000 middle and high school students in California. Ranked 32nd in 2023 by US News and World Report, the School is in the top 12% of Graduate Schools of Education nationally.
The division of Development and Alumni Relations (DEVAR) and the School of Education embrace and value diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). We are committed to employing and retaining a diverse workforce and have programs and policies in place to ensure all employees can succeed regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender expression, gender identity, gender transition status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, ancestry, marital status, age, sexual orientation, citizenship or service in the uniformed services, including protected veterans. In acknowledgment of historical and current injustices faced by marginalized members of our global UC Davis community, we are firmly committed to supporting our Principles of Community and applying tenets of diversity, equity, and inclusion into every aspect of our everyday work and organizational culture.
Under general direction of the Managing Senior Director of Development, the External Relations and Development Program Manager is responsible for executing a comprehensive stewardship plan that illustrates to donors the impact of their giving, managing operations of the Dean's Board of Advisors, developing alumni and volunteer activities that support the donor pipeline, data mining including foundation research to expand new private funders and supporting team operations.
