The Highlights:
The Assistant Director works in the Law Career Services Office and reports to the Assistant Dean and the Director of Law Career Services.
What You'll Do:
Student Support & Advising - Works directly with students to provide extensive career development advising through one-on-one advising, resume and cover letter review, interview preparation, job search and networking strategy, and referrals for outside assistance and support as needed.
Programming - Plans and executes career and professional development programming for students, including panels or presentations on private sector related topics.
Outreach - Develops and maintains relationships with employers nationwide, with an emphasis on private sector employers and judicial clerkships, to encourage their participation in interview programs and otherwise solicit them for job postings to cultivate job opportunities for students and alumni; serves as a contact for employers seeking ways to reach DePaul law students and alumni for employment opportunities.
What You'll Need:
J.D. degree and minimum of 3 years of law practice, legal recruiting, or law school career services experience required.
Knowledge of legal market and trends, including methods to keep abreast of those trends, and related recruiting practices and hiring needs of employers.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, preferably with advising and public speaking experience.
Ability to work independently and effectively as a team, and under stressful conditions, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to handle simultaneously a large and diverse number of projects, responsibilities and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence.
A service-oriented professional who will work well with others, exhibit grace under pressure, and participate enthusiastically.
Routinely lift and carry digital media equipment up and down stairs and periodically spend extended periods standing.
Some evening and weekend work. Some local travel required.
