Job Description:
The Director of Donor Relations at Le Moyne College is a part of the Advancement & Innovation Leadership Team and plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the organization's relationships with donors and supporters. This position is dedicated to promoting a donor-centric culture of philanthropy at the College and involves developing and executing strategic initiatives to engage donors, nurture meaningful connections, and ensure sustained philanthropic support. The Director collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement a comprehensive donor stewardship and engagement approach. The ideal candidate will be a strong collaborator with attention to detail, capable of connecting with internal partners, donors, and prospective donors. The Director of Donor Relations will directly supervise the stewardship function.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
Donor Engagement Strategy
Develop, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive donor engagement strategy to cultivate and maintain relationships with individual, corporate, and institutional donors.
Identify and segment donors based on their giving history and preferences to create customized engagement plans.
Establish recognition events, personalized communications, and tailored engagement opportunities for major donors, ensuring a high level of donor satisfaction and loyalty.
Develop exceptional cultivation and stewardship experiences for major and transformational gift prospects and donors, including preparation and management of leaders and speakers.
Create annual scholarship events, designed to engage prospects, donors, and student recipients in the culture of philanthropy.
In collaboration with the Senior Advisor to the Vice President of Advancement & Innovation, develop and execute an impactful planned giving program (e.g. Le Moyne Legacy Society with a focus on recognition and engagement.
Implement data-driven insights to assess the effectiveness of the engagement strategy and make necessary adjustments.
Donor Communication
Collaborate closely with Advancement & Innovations Marketing to craft compelling narratives that not only express gratitude but also highlight the tangible impact of donations.
Oversee all donor communication efforts, including acknowledgment letters, donor newsletters, annual reports, and personalized donor impact reports (e.g., Fall Financial Report).
Utilize storytelling techniques to emotionally connect donors with Le Moyne College's mission and the student and faculty recipients and awardees of their generosity (e.g., Spring Impact Report).
Develop a donor-centric content calendar, ensuring regular and meaningful touchpoints with donors to maintain their engagement.
Prospect Identification and Cultivation
The Director of Donor Relations will be a key member of the Advancement & Innovation Leadership Team's coordinated efforts to develop cultivation plans and engagement strategies for existing and prospective donors.
Collaborate with research and analytics teams to identify and prioritize major donors.
Assist in the creation of a systematic approach to track and manage prospect cultivation, from initial contact through conversion to a major donor.
Assist in the creation of personalized cultivation activities, such as campus tours, meetings with faculty and students, and participation in relevant events.
Fundraising Campaigns
The Director of Donor Relations will be a key member of the Advancement & Innovation Team's collaborative efforts to plan and execute fundraising campaigns.
Assist in the creation of effective solicitation strategies that resonate with donors and align with the College's mission.
Assist in the development of recognition and stewardship strategies for campaign donors, including naming opportunities and impact reporting.
Reporting and Metrics
Track and report on key performance metrics, including donor retention rates, giving levels, and fundraising goals.
Utilize data analytics to assess donor behavior and preferences, enabling data-driven decision-making.
Develop dashboards and reports that provide real-time insights into donor engagement and campaign progress.
Regularly present findings and recommendations to the Advancement & Innovation Leadership Team to inform strategic planning.
Leadership and Management
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive donor stewardship program grounded in best practices.
Lead annual planning efforts, aligning the Donor Relations team's goals with the broader Development, Advancement, and University strategy.

Bachelor's Degree required.
Minimum of 5 experience in donor relations required, preferably within higher ed
Must possess excellent organizational, communication, customer service, writing, marketing and data analysis skills, and have sound knowledge of fundraising principles, concepts and techniques.
Strong data management skills required. Adobe Suite experience a plus. Candidate must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, be self-motivated and attentive to details, and exhibit creative and entrepreneurial energy. Ability to work independently but collaboratively as part of a goal-oriented team is essential. An understanding and appreciation of Jesuit mission preferred.
