DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Director of EM Marketing & Communications and with work direction from the Senior Communications Specialist, the Web Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining innovative, responsive, user-friendly and accessible designs that achieve brand promotion and user experience goals for the Enrollment Management websites (including but not limited to www.admissions.ucsd.edu, www.fas.ucsd.edu, and www.em.ucsd.edu), email campaigns, and other digital communications vehicles. In this role, the Web Marketing Specialist uses skills as a seasoned, experienced digital communications professional to produce design and layout for a variety of non-routine and moderately complex website applications while adhering to brand standards and search engine optimization best practices.
The Web Marketing Specialist will manage existing EM websites as well as the design and implementation of any new websites for the departments of Enrollment Management. The Specialist and will manage HTML email templates in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Slate, including creating and evaluating email campaign templates and working with variable data.
The Web Marketing Specialist conducts research of competitor sites to guide evolution of digital properties. They are responsible for developing and maintaining accessible designs that achieve brand promotion and user experience goals for web and email. The Specialist will utilize Google Analytics to ensure measurement and reporting on site performance and make data-informed decisions on content updates.
The Web Marketing Specialist works with all EM department staff to manage both website development as well as routine updates and maintenance. They will advise EM senior leadership on web and other digital marketing and communication trends, solutions and approaches. They will consult with and advise the Creative Services team and EM stakeholders regarding web and email best practices, including accessibility, information architecture, user experience, and related aspects of digital communications. They will exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or three years equivalent experience / training.
Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of design and user experience, including skill to design in an appealing, lively and relevant way.
Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work.
Thorough knowledge of content management systems and / or relevant web applications used for web production and organization-specific computer application programs.
Thorough skills to create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites that provide web content consistent with the organization's message and in keeping with management directives and client objectives.
Thorough understanding of organization's processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for web communications.
Thorough technical skills in computer applications for web production, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, web interaction, and / or other state-of-the-art web communication capabilities.
Thorough interpersonal communication skills.
Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems.
Technical knowledge and experience in the creation, analysis, administration and maintenance of websites using client-sided coding such as XHTML, CSS, JavaScript.
Knowledge of online security practices, including data sharing security and best practices.
Ability to update all EM websites in accordance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, level AA standards.
Technical knowledge and experience understanding data lead sources and fields within the CRM database for both prospects and applicants as they relate to email HTML template design.
