Overview
The Arts & Science Communications Department is seeking a talented Social Media Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Director, Communications for Arts & Science, this individual will manage NYU Arts & Scienceâ™s social media presence, including Arts & Science, Graduate School of Arts & Science, College of Arts & Science and Liberal Studies accounts, on Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook and YouTube. Collaborate with Communications team members and school administrators to strategically and creatively prepare and develop well-segmented, engaging, original content for diverse audiences, supporting the brands and strategic goals of NYU Arts & Science and its schools. Conduct regular content and performance analysis; engage with followers; identify and pitch story opportunities; help with production on video shoots; and write profiles or other pieces of content to be featured on social media. Serve as social media advisor for academic departments and other Arts & Science entities with their own accounts, sharing social media best practices and championing brand compliance.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: 5+ years of related communications experience managing a matrixed organization or brandâ™s social media channels, using very strong storytelling, writing and technical skills.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Keen interest in storytelling, and fluency in communicating on social media platforms including Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and Threads, with careful attention to differences in style and format of each. Knowledge of social media trends and best practices, especially as applicable to brands and organizations. Specific knowledge and experience with using social media publishing, listening, and analytics tools and generating reports. Excellent organization and verbal communication skills. Exceptional written communication skills. Ability to interact with a diverse population at all levels. Knowledge of standard office software.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Graphic design, photography, and/or video skills. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite. Journalistic writing/reporting/interviewing experience. Experience running social media at a top university.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $67,000.00 to USD $75,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
