Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the department; supports all aspects of the ELI program including faculty, instruction, program evaluation, and curriculum; maintains program materials and the physical space of the department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Evaluates and, when necessary, implements curriculum; teaches one course per term as assigned.
Collaborates with the leadership and staff to establish student learning outcomes and assesses student learning using multiple points of assessment.
Works with the leadership in making necessary changes in order to put the ELI program on a trajectory that will enable the program to elect to apply for accreditation by Commission on English Language Program.
Collects, manages and reports student assessment data; maintains student academic records.
Establishes, maintains, and enforces criteria for student language level progression within the ELI.
Conducts teaching observations and assessments for each ELI instructor once per term against established criteria; ensures student teaching evaluations are distributed, collected and analyzed.
Manages student workers. Maintains ELI instructors teaching and employment records; tracks faculty teaching hours and submits necessary forms to ensure that ELI faculty are paid in a timely manner.
Conducts orientations for new students.
Tracks student billing; generates account statements for students each term, and answers questions as necessary.
Coordinates with university constituents. to ensure ELI students have regular access to a range of services.
Ensures that ELI students have access to regular field trips and cultural events.
Represents ELI at meetings or university events.
Travels to represent YSU for overseas recruitment.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Ability to travel for extended periods overseas.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over student employees.
Reports to: Director, International Programs Office
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Certificate (TESOL); valid passport.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: University policies and procedures*; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives*; department/division policies and procedures*; workplace safety practices and procedures*; English grammar and spelling; records management; office management; project management.
Skill in: Use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.
Ability to: Collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; determine material and equipment needs; compile and prepare reports; use proper research methods to gather data; understand a variety of written and/or verbal communications; maintain records according to established procedures; effectively interact with personnel and public to answer routine questions; train or instruct others; move quickly and effectively from one tasks to another; work independently and in a team environment; develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor's degree; a TESOL Certificate; prior teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field; prior experience teaching second language learners.
