Position Summary:
The physician assistant will perform clinical assessments and care management services that include construction and interpretation of histories and physical exams. The physician assistant will also perform initial and periodic physical examinations, mental status examinations and medical history on both in-patients and out-patients. The PA will also be expected to participate in daily rounds to observe and record pertinent progress of patients. Updating and summarizing charts, changing orders when appropriate, and notifying the responsible physician(s) of changes in the patient's condition are but a few of the PA's daily routine. The PA will also counsel patients and families as to preventive care, medical problems, psychological problems and use of prescribed treatment and drugs. The PA will assist in operative and other procedures and participate in clinical investigations. Must have California License. Assist with clinical trials and departmental research projects.

$79.88 - $109.66 (Hourly Rate)
Required:
1) Licensure through the California Physician Assistant Board of the Medical Board of California as a physician assistant. 2) Applicant must have completed a physician assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). 3) Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI), or obtain an NPI, prior to employment start date and meet current Medicare requirements for billing. 4) Applicant must hold a current DEA Registration with schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4 and 5 and State issued prescribing authority (if applicable). 5) Evidence of completion of Controlled Substances Education Course that meets requirements pursuant to California Code of Regulations Sections 1399.610 and 1399.612. PAs who have completed a one-time Controlled Substances Education Course may order or furnish a Schedule II drug pursuant to the Practice Agreement without patient-specific advance approval. 6) National board certification at the time of initial appointment (beginning August 2020). 7) Current ACLS and BLS certification from approved AHA course.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS required. Ability to exercise diplomacy and flexibility in interacting with doctors, nurses Other paramedical personnel, administrators, emergency and law enforcement Officers. Skill at clearly communicating medical information to broad variety of people, Both in person and on the telephone. Knowledge of what comprises the medical history and skill in the history-taking Process, including time allowance to carry these out. Knowledge of when specific diagnostic tests are indicated according to written protocol. Skill to read medical instruments, editing data for errors and making necessary Corrections of treatment modalities. Skill to operate appropriate medical equipment, e.g., intracranial pressure monitoring Devices, central venous pressure monitors, neuroelectrophysiological machines, Pulmonary respirators, cardioverter or cardiac defibrillator (capacitor discharge unit), Transducer systems, digital read-out equipment and medical computer systems. Ability to be trained in the use of specialized medical equipment and procedures Writing skills to prepare clear medical reports, laboratory data and progress notes. Ability to perform various medical procedures. Applicants are expected to meet the legal requirements to practice as a PA as Determined by graduation from an accredited physician assistant program ; to be board certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants; California Physician Assistant license, DEA license, BLS, ACLS
