Chief Commercial Officer - Office of the Chief Operating Officer - Georgetown University
Job Overview
This Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) develops and implements a forward-looking, fully integrated business and marketing plan that delivers strong revenue and profit growth across all commercial business lines to include collegiate athletics and university-wide corporate relationships. It will be imperative that they deliver strategic and innovative thinking - combined with a strong proficiency in fundamentals and an acute understanding of the sports commercial marketplace and the transforming NCAA ecosystem - to achieve growth with consumer-centric and corporate-centric business initiatives.
As well, they are responsible for developing a strategic plan for the University that recognizes the transforming state of college athletics and positions Georgetown University for future success. Included in this planning will be an in-depth understanding of the NCAA's State-of-the-Business Review that will usher in economic, commercial and organizational Reform; knowledge of the NCAA Transformation Committee Report and its key 'follow-on' areas; and an understanding of Congressional Legislation being discussed to address NIL and the broader student-athlete/school relationship.
The CCO works at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, in partnership with many other GU colleagues, and is heavily involved with all aspects of the University's commercial business, including Athletics' media, sponsorship, consumer products, ticketing, events, data/technology and University partnerships. They are expected to execute commercial strategies that deliver revenue targets and maximize profit margins, while overseeing departmental budgets, working closely with partners, and undertaking a collaborative effort with all stakeholders toward an overall consumer and partner engagement strategy.
Additionally, they lead all integrated partner marketing and media programs that retain and grow the audience and maximize revenue; enhance the University's brand reputation; and ensure a consistent marketing message and positioning with the strategic direction of the University.
Work Interactions
The Chief Commercial Officer works internally across Georgetown, primarily with colleagues in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer and its related organizations (Finance, Corporate Partnerships, etc.), the Office of the President, the Office of Public Affairs and Strategic Communications, the Office of the General Counsel, and the Athletics Department.
Externally, they work with the Big East Conference, commercial partners, and agency partners.
