Department Overview As a security first organization, Technology Delivery Services (TDS) is part of the Information Technology (IT) Department. The TDS teams include Information Security, Planning (architecture and PMO), Application Development, HR & Payroll Development, Infrastructure, and Client Services teams. Position Summary As a business intelligence data analyst for the UCPATH Data Services team in TDS, you will provide expertise and analysis in the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) environment and various other University of California data systems. The incumbent will work in close partnership with campus locations, business partners, data engineers, the UC Path Center, Project Teams, and other stakeholders to provide service and support to a system-wide audience. Responsibilities may encompass tasks such as creating technical requirements from business requirements, developing queries, fundamental data modeling, optimizing reports and queries, troubleshooting errors, collaborating with team members and end-users, documenting processes, driving continuous improvement, or a combination of these and other IT functions. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of HR and workforce-related data presented to a systemwide audience. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to gather, analyze, and present data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making and optimize HR processes.
Key Responsibilities
60% Performs complex analysis of business and user needs, prepares documentation of requirements, and translate business expectations into proper system and process requirement technical specifications. Provides coordination of support and training on new data delivery processes or applications. Makes recommendations for process improvement or business needs related to data and analytics.
10% Initiates, designs or modifies moderately complex systems, processes and procedures where standardized policies or procedures may not exist.
10% Participate in and provide subject matter expertise to other areas as needed. Understands and applies industry practices, community standards and department policies and procedures in depth. May serve as technical lead or assist data engineers with more complex analysis projects.
10% Collaborate with HR professionals, IT teams, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements. Assist data engineers with solution delivery.
10% Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in HR analytics and PeopleSoft HCM. Propose and implement process improvements to streamline data-related tasks. Collaborate with IT and HR teams to resolve data discrepancies and inconsistencies.
Experience Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of relevant past work experience.
Skills and Abilities Required Qualifications
Experience analyzing and designing solutions for PeopleSoft HCM applications: HR, Payroll, Benefits Administration, Commitment Accounting, Absence Management, Talent Management, and associated self-service applications, including experience, and understanding of the PeopleSoft HCM data model.
Knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.
Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills including the ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Ability to act as project manager for all requirements gathering activities, managing highly complex requirements activities to ensure a successful outcome within the identified project constraints.
Demonstrated testing and test planning skills working in a data environment.
Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions.
Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.
Familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and statistical analysis techniques.

Full Salary Range: $85,800 - $158,200
The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
