This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Education Program Assistant 1 position for the OSU Extension Service Office in Clackamas County at Oregon State University (OSU). This is a limited duration appointment expected to last until August 31, 2025.
The Education Program Assistant 1 (EPA1) is based at the Oregon State University Extension Service Office in Clackamas County. This is a two-year limited duration EPA1 position with potential continuation dependent upon available funding. This EPA1 position will work as a team member to plan and conduct activities that bring 4-H youth development to the community. The position will require direct contact and teaching of school-age youth. The position has regular contact with the public to promote awareness and interest in 4-H programs, and engages the public as volunteers, participants, and partners. This position has a priority designation for working with Spanish speaking audiences through using bilingual/bi-literate/bi-cultural skills.
Program mission 4-H provides young people with intentional, high quality learning experiences that promote positive interactions with adults and peers, sustained and active participation across time, and opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the world around them. This mission is accomplished through the work of volunteers, youth, community members and professionals who organize and conduct learning experiences in club, group, community, and family settings. Programs are implemented in a manner that is consistent with the best practices in the field to youth development and respectful of local norms and culture.
The Oregon Extension and 4-H Youth Development Programs reach close to 100,000 young people annually through out-of-school, after-school, and in-school programming. 4-H staff may teach, develop materials, coordinate digital outreach activities, and provide administrative oversight to a broad array of programs which may involve minors, animals, and firearms. Some 4-H experiences may require transportation of members in motor vehicles and chaperoning overnight accommodations. 4-H staff are also required to assure compliance with Federal and State regulations related to youth protection, fund-raising, taxation, and the non-profit status of 4-H and affiliated organizations.
Purpose of the position This position will work in conjunction with the 4-H Youth Development faculty member to support and enhance 4-H programs. Activities focus on event planning, volunteer coordination, project management, coordination of county fair planning processes and coordination of 4-H fair events, youth and new leader recruitment, management of 4-H club program, and development of new community clubs. This person will assist the managing faculty with creating collaborative community partnerships and initiating program changes. The EPA 1 will disseminate information to youth and adults regarding the planning, organizing, and implementing of 4-H organized events.

High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years of relevant experience (paid or volunteer), supporting community programs that serve children, youth, or adults OR Associate Degree and one year of work experience (paid or volunteer) which must be working in youth development programs, adult education, teaching, program delivery or related functions AND Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated skill to work with diverse audiences. Demonstrated skill to use computers for word processing, data management, and communications.
Requirements :
General knowledge and ability to use computers, including proficiency with information technology, professional office software and collaborative work platforms.
Ability to learn and adapt to using multiple forms of digital communication systems, including websites, email newsletters, social media, and other communication tools in a changing technological environment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work as a collaborative member of a team, including with other professionals and/or volunteers.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
Type:
This position will have a flexible work schedule coordinated with supervisor. The work hours and work days will vary depending on programming needs.
Attend meetings and events, often on evenings and weekends.
This position requires travel to assist with the educational programming and services at various sites throughout Clackamas County.
Individuals must be able transport educational materials and equipment up to 50lbs.
