Job Function: The NCAA Postgraduate Internship Program annually provides on-the-job learning experiences at the national office in Indianapolis to college graduates who are passionate in their pursuit of a career in college sports administration.

Job Responsibilities 

• Plan and execute professional development site visits to conference offices, member campuses and affiliate organizations to further their knowledge of the collegiate sports industry and network with today's leaders.
  • Academic and Membership Affairs - The academic and membership affairs postgraduate interns process waivers, participate in waiver team meetings and communicate decisions to the applicant institutions. Interns also participate in legislative meetings, as well as staff interpretations meetings.
  • Administrative Services - There are two internship positions available in administrative services. The finance and accounting intern is primarily responsible for assisting the finance and accounting team with a focus on championships finance and general accounting. Alternatively, the rotational internship gets broad exposure to internal audit, operations, information technology, human resources, and business performance management.
  • Championships and Alliances - The internship opportunities, include marketing and fan engagement, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and multiple positions within the operations side of the championships and alliances.
  • Communications - The department has internship positions available in digital communications, external engagement and brand strategy. Current interns are producing content for the NCAA website, social media platforms and learning from industry experts about strategic communications for a prominent organization.
  • Inclusion, Education and Community Engagement - Postgraduate interns work directly with student-athletes, athletics department staff, administrators in higher education and affiliate groups to provide resources and educational programming to the membership.
  • Eligibility Center - Eligibility Center interns work closely throughout the yearlong program with each unit of the department, which includes academic certification, academic waivers, amateurism certification, customer service and high school review. 
  • Enforcement - The enforcement interns support and assist the staff in monitoring, investigating and processing violations of NCAA legislation. This includes reviewing and processing self-reported Level III violations, and possibly the opportunity to provide case support to investigators on major cases.
  • Executive Affairs - The executive affairs intern supports the executive office to advance presidential initiatives, NCAA communications goals and Association-wide initiatives. 
  • Governance - The Division I governance intern primarily supports the work of Division I committees. The Division II governance intern primarily focuses on the division’s marketing and communications initiatives. The Division III governance intern focuses on supporting the division’s committees, branding, marketing and educational programs. 

Job Requirements

• Applicants must be a college graduate from a four-year NCAA member school by the start date of the internship program. The NCAA Postgraduate Internship Program is not designed to provide credit toward an undergraduate degree, but an intern may be eligible to earn credit toward a graduate degree.
