The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (OMFR), is seeking a temporarydentalassistant/ imaging technicianwith experience and/or a desire to coach and provide hands-on instruction of dental imaging techniques to dental and dental hygiene students in the Radiology Clinic setting. The OMFR team includes an oral and maxillofacial radiologist, dentists, hygiene educators anddentalassistant/imaging technicians.
The dentalassistant/imaging technician assists in the Radiology Clinic where students provide care to over 4,500 patients per year; acquires intra- and extraoral digital images; provides coaching and hands-on instruction of dental imaging techniques to students, manages patient flow through the clinic; maintains a supply of sterilized instruments, and imports and exports digital images. Responsibilities also include checking in patients, accurately entering patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely fashion, taking incoming patient calls, scheduling appointments with patients, and assisting with patient check-out; providing administrative support for CBCT operations --- includes the scheduling of patient appointments,preparing and entering CBCT templates, uploading images and reports, and maintaining CBCT reports and related materials; maintaining a respectful and supportive environment for the patients, students, staff and faculty; maintaining quality assurance and infection prevention in the clinical setting; evaluating and inspecting dental imaging equipment to ensure safe operation and reporting all deficiencies to the OMFR clinic director.
Part-time; flexible hours between 7:30am 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
This position must have dexterity in the fingers and be able to use both hands, and have the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, and operate dental equipment.The body must be able to work from a dental stool in order to perform most dental procedures. The ability to sit and stand for a duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation; manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications; visual acuity and communication/language development. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: blood-borne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); vibrating equipment; and latex.
Required: High School diploma or GED, certified dental assistant, radiograph license; 1-year relevant experience
Desired: 2-4 years' relevant experience
