Located in the heart of Iowa Stateâs campus, the Office of Student Financial Aid is a unit within the Division of Academic Affairs that administers more than $400 million in federal, state, institutional, and private funds to over 85% of undergraduate students, along with additional support for domestic graduate students seeking aid. We strive to help all students succeed in their Iowa State experience through education and outreach to create an understanding of available financial aid opportunities.
As a Program Specialist, you will be responsible for support of the work-study student employment programs at Iowa State by complying with federal, state and institutional policies and regulations. This includes working closely with employment partners such as payroll and human resources to ensure employment programs are accurate and student centric.
This position will support the off-campus community service program, through site visits and new partnership development, and the campus work-study program, through supervisor education, design of trainings and resources, and technical assistance within Workday. This position will assist with designing and leading workshops and trainings for student and staff audiences, as well as collaborating for student employment recognition efforts such as Student Employee of the Year and National Student Employment Week.
The successful candidate will possess experience providing exemplary customer service in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a primary focus on communication, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail. You will work both independently, as well as in a team environment.
This is a two year term position.

⢠Manages a program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with the objectives of the university.
⢠Plans, monitors, and manages an internal or external project from initiation through completion.
⢠Leads or coordinates project planning, resourcing, and staffing for assigned program.
⢠Monitors and manages budget and ensures that the program meets the overall objectives of the university.
⢠Develops public relations initiatives, workshops, seminars, surveys, or other activities to promote the program and carry out its objectives.
⢠Acts as a representative of the program.
⢠Participates in project management.
⢠May secure external funding as needed.
