JOB PURPOSE:
We are looking for a Performance Management and Development Manager to join our Talent Management and Workforce Strategy team that focuses on attracting and retaining high-quality employees, developing their skills, and continuously motivating them to perform at their highest potential in the pursuit of achieving the University's mission. This role will report to the AVP, Talent Management and Workforce Strategy to play a key role in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining Stanford's performance management and development program. It is an exciting opportunity to serve as a liaison between University Human Resources and all schools/business units to help maximize the potential of our performance and growth by effectively supporting change management.
We are open to a hybrid work arrangement (a combination of onsite and work from home). The number of days may occasionally fluctuate subject to business need, but the expectation is that this position will be onsite a minimum of 2 days/week. The onsite work location is Stanford Redwood City Campus, 505 Broadway, Redwood City, California but travel to the Stanford Campus, Stanford, California may be required at times.

As a Manager - Performance/Talent Development your responsibilities include:
Team Management
Provide strong leadership to the team, setting a clear vision and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
Oversees day to day management, coaching, mentoring and recognition of direct reports
Efficiently allocate resources, including staff and budget, to meet team objectives
Program Management
Participates in full life-cycle management of the performance management and development program including program and system design and execution.
Develops and implements the program by understanding the needs of schools/units, combined with university-wide goals and objectives.
Brings knowledge of performance and development trends backed by research to drive discussions and influence strategy, collaborating with the local schools and business units to drive adoption.
Leads design and development of supporting programs such as talent profile, development plans etc.
Designs and delivers all training and performance support tools related to program implementation.
Encourages diverse, equitable and inclusive performance and development practices across the organization, develops and implements programs and initiatives that drive an inclusive and a high performing culture
Collaborates with HR leadership across the organization to establish competency models in support of the performance and development objectives
Provides guidance on integration of performance management and compensation philosophy
Assesses effectiveness of the program through reports and delivers critical data/metrics related to performance and development processes to stakeholders across the organization that measure performance against established goals. This includes measurement of effectiveness for all performance and associated programs
Serves as leader/member of multidisciplinary project teams assembled to implement talent development initiatives as part of HCM Cloud system implementation
Operates independently to plan, develop, and execute one or more parts of larger development projects
Change Management and Program Adoption
Leads design and delivery of strategic communication, training courses, and performance support tools in partnership with the HR Systems team to drive adoption
Develops and leads group facilitation, training, and presentations to various organizational audiences as needed
Supports local HR groups in the administration and management of all talent development programs by developing strong collaborative relationships with all members of the HR department and other stakeholders such as HR Systems and Communications teams.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to establish a strong partnership with the senior human resources partners and other members of the management team.
Deep expertise and experience developing and implementing effective talent management solutions, including performance management, development planning, and organizational effectiveness.
Strong program/project management skills and experience.
Ability to build the confidence of others through open communication and respectful behavior.
Ability to connect with customers, partners, suppliers, and colleagues across functions to achieve significant results.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk based computer tasks, use a telephone, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
Occasionally twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, write by hand, sort/file paperwork, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls.

The expected pay range for this position is $134,000 to $158,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
