Overview
The NYU Stern School of Business has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director, Invest NYC SDG Initiative in the Center for Sustainable Business (CSB). The Invest NYC SDG initiative (the âœCSB initiativeâ) has the goal of engaging the private sector and driving private investment toward creating a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient New York City. Using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) as a framework, the CSB initiative is developing concrete investable projects throughout New York City and New York State with a focus on food & health. The initiative is currently supported by the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, Prospect Hill Foundation, and Con Edison, and is guided by a steering committee with finance and subject experts from the public and private sector.
We are seeking a skilled, committed Associate Director who is passionate about the CSB mission to improve business and create positive societal impact. The Associate Director will join the Invest NYC SDG Initiative team to advance the development of a sustainable urban economy in New York City. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the CSB initiative, including supervising Invest NYC SDG team members (consultants, senior research scholars, volunteers, and NYU student researchers), and providing a high level of strategic and logistical support to the Director. The Associate Director will manage related events sponsored by the CSB initiative, overseeing the budget and digital communication strategies, and managing the Steering Committee and CSB Advisory Board liaison.
This is an 8 month fixed-term position, with a start date of Dec. 1, 2023, and an end date of August 1, 2024.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have a Bachelorâ™s Degree and 3+ years relevant experience in the field of sustainability, including project and relationship management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to manage a team, establish and build stakeholder relationships, work independently, and adapt quickly to changing scenarios with limited supervision is also required. Excellent judgment is a must. Experience synthesizing complex information, converting knowledge from tacit to explicit, and developing clear, cogent presentations. Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships, and ability to anticipate and respond to emerging needs. Capable of fast, effective, focused research and analysis for strategic application. Resourcefulness and ability to adapt in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Willingness to jump into a wide variety of projects, getting up to speed quickly and delivering results. Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends. Knowledge of standard office software, including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SalesForce, and Google Workspace programs. Ability to manage basic website functionality.
A Master's Degree and experience working in an environmental NGO, an environmental or sustainability government entity, or for a sustainability program at a company are preferred. Experience in fundraising or supporting a fundraising team and special knowledge in one or more areas or prospective projects of the CSB initiative is also preferred.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $68,400.00 to USD $88,400.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
