Position Summary This position provides high-level project management and analytical support to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs. The Strategic Project Coordinator will work with the Assistant Vice Chancellor & Chief Health Information Officer to manage the design, planning, implementation and analysis of diverse enterprise-wide strategic projects and initiatives. This individual will engage partners and funders, track deliverables, provide regulatory oversight, and assist in the development of innovative research, educational programs, and clinical care models. Projects may cross multiple functional areas such as education at the undergraduate, graduate, professional education, continuing professional development, clinical practice, research, academic operations, advancement and marketing and others.
Supervision (May supervise any or all of the following): Part-time staff members, students, graduate assistants, fellows and extra help employees.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive project management leadership and guidance in the implementation of strategic plan for interprofessional education and collaborative practice, including (but not limited to) the ongoing evaluation of progress toward achieving the outcomes documented in the plan. Initiatives related to the implementation of the plan include: contributing to the progress of work groups established to accomplish the major components of the plan, development of information systems related to academic programs, clinical training, faculty and student participation, building the Office of Health Affairs Informatics brand, fostering relationships with stakeholders within and external to UIC, and modifying policies at the campus, college and program levels to support sustainability of Office of Health Affairs Informatics
Provide support, as needed, to the Chief Health Informatics Steering Committee.
Establish and maintain effective communication mechanisms regarding project status, ideas and information, and project developments among team members. Design and implement training plans and roll-out strategies.
Provide comprehensive project management in the planning, development and implementation of strategic health system informatics initiatives. This includes creating and managing project plans, tracking key deadlines and deliverables, developing and refining reports and memos, monitoring compliance and work quality, and ensuring targeted outcomes are achieved.
Coordinate activities within and between stakeholder groups and act as a liaison between the OVCHA office and stakeholders.
Provide basic data and financial analysis to support health system initiatives.
Assist with writing and submission of grant proposals.
Attend relevant meetings and events as a representative of UIC Office of Informatics and/ or the health policy and strategy team.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree in Science, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Management, Informatics, or related field (e.g., MBA, MS Informatics) preferred.
Two years of demonstrated experience in implementation of project management methodologies from project scope development, planning, execution, monitoring, and tracking, as well as management of timeline and budget
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work accordingly to meet stringent deadlines.
Display creativity, initiative, and strategic thinking to conceptualize, plan, implement, and rework programs that support enterprise goals and objectives. Self-motivation to develop new strategies and ideas to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
Ability to motivate team members to achieve project goals, and participate as a member of diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.
Ability to navigate complex relationships across the health system and assist other team members and customers as necessary.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relations with management and staff of all levels, colleagues, and other strategic partners.
Strong writing skills and ability to draft clear, concise memos and other documents.
Analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to provide basic data analysis and to learn to use new data systems.
Demonstrated decision-making ability and the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of all assigned duties, and in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information.
Working Conditions: General office environment. Regular travel not expected but may occur occasionally around previously scheduled events. Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity and fingering for working with computer keyboards.
Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with the creation and management of new Intellectual Property (e.g. patents, copyright, and trademarks) preferred.
Experience working on federally funded projects preferred.
Knowledge of electronic health record and other digital health systems preferred.
Familiarity working with graduate students and fellows.
Familiarity with concepts and terminology used in informatics.
Familiarity with University systems and programs including systems in financial account management.
Familiarity with research proposal process and grant management.
