GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
Incumbent must establish effective rapport and communication with students and instructors. Responsible for attending and participating in Nursing courses as requested by department. Responsible for learning course material and assisting students in the classroom as requested by instructor. Collaborates with Nursing tutors and Perkins staff to adapt services to best fit the needs of students. Responsible for providing individual and small group tutoring sessions in approved subjects. Expected to be flexible and willing to have their work assignments adjusted in order to support the College's program efforts. May be asked to perform a wide variety of tasks in order to support the colleges program efforts including flexibility with work schedule and tutoring material/subject changes. This position currently requires staff to provide services from the Batavia Campus.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide individual and/or group tutoring to students in approved content area.
Participate in Nursing course sessions and collaborate with instructors and students in the classroom.
Collaborate with Nursing tutors and Perkins staff to support students holistically.
Provide students with clarification of course assignments, lectures and tests.
Provide tutoring services in an open lab or self-paced setting.
Select and use resource material and/or lab equipment most appropriate to demonstrate study units/workbook assignments.
Participate in developing tutoring resource materials when required.
Attend tutor training sessions as available.
Maintain student tutoring records.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION:
RN Required. Associate's degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years of experience in a customer facing role required. Experience in healthcare field required. Experience in nursing education or post-secondary tutoring preferred.
KNOWLDEGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to provide quality customer service. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as the ability to establish and maintain positive learning environments for students and collaborative relationships with Nursing Department faculty and Tutoring Staff. Incumbent must be mindful of and develop solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.

RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Tutoring and Academic Support Coordinator unless otherwise assigned. Incumbent is embedded in the Nursing Department and is expected to work cooperatively with Nursing faculty, staff, and students of the college.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Professional Nursing Tutor is a temporary, part-time position at 19.5 hours per week. Position is compensated at a rate of $19.64-$23.76/hour (dependent on education and experiential credentials) and is assigned on a semester basis as needed. Flexible hours available.
