Job Functions/Responsibilities:

Academic Advising:
* Academically advise up to 200 (currently ~120) Hospitality and Tourism Management
(HTM) majors each semester.
* Maintain records of advising on Navigate. Maintain a 4-year plan and digital DARS
report for each student.
* Complete and submit petition forms for degree completion.
* Use the Banner system to authorize appropriate overrides and other actions for student
registration.
* Employ the DARS system to keep up with required courses to complete the degree.
* Assist with orientation registration of HTM majors.
* Advise students on career options.
* Communicate with prospective students (pre-college, pre-transfer, and pre-majors) and
parents to provide guidance on available programs, academic requirements, and career
prospects.
* Advise hospitality management student group(s). Work as a liaison between students,
faculty and administrators.
* Hire and supervise RHTM ambassadors.

Teaching:
* Teach one 1-credit hour course on professional development for all HTM students in
each fall.

Internship Coordinator:
* Manage the HTM internship program by establishing and grading student assignments
and evaluation procedures, maintaining policies and reporting documents, and
conducting periodic reviews as needed for assessment of student learning outcomes.
* Coordinate internship program requirements by working closely with students and
internship preceptors. Resolve any issues and challenges with students or internship
preceptors.
* Find quality internship opportunities by active industry networking and disseminate
them with students and program faculty.
* Assist HTM faculty in establishing qualifying experiential learning programs for HTM
392 Community & Industry Engagement.
* Maintain active networking relationships with the area industry professionals.

Student Recruitments, Program Assessment, and Other Services:
* Work closely with the CEHHS and UTK recruiters and the Director of Advising and
Student Services for recruitment opportunities. Attend recruitment events to increase
student enrollment.
* Coordinate the program assessment process for SACS and other accreditation
organizations as needed.
* Prepare the timetable for the HTM program in communication with the faculty.
* Maintain contact information for HTM alumni. Assist the Department Head and program
faculty with the annual alumni surveys.
* Attend all department meetings and HTM program meetings and provide services to the
department as needed.
