Summary Position: Bank Street Education Center (the Ed Center), a division within Bank Street College of Education (the College) created to support Bank Street's work with school districts, is currently seeking a Senior Research & Data Analyst. The Senior Research & Data Analyst will support projects across the Ed Center project portfolio with primary responsibilities of leading measurement planning, developing associated data collection tools, and executing the data collection and research activities to support their assigned projects.
Key relationships: The Senior Research & Data Analyst will report directly to the Director of Research and Evaluation, and interact with the various Ed Center project teams.
Responsibilities: In collaboration with their supervisor and Ed Center leaders, the Project Director will be responsible for the following:
Research & Analytics - Working closely with team leads to outline and implement a measurement plan that clearly documents the measurement strategy & associated project metrics. - In collaboration with key stakeholders, creating data collection tools that capture data aligned to key project metrics (e.g., tools to support teachers to measure the impact of inquiry cycles, surveys, observation tools, interviews). - Building, helping to vet, and maintaining data management structures and tools for long-term qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. - Creating comprehensive data visualizations (including dashboards and reports) for use by various internal and external stakeholders (teachers visualizing student-level data, principals visualizing school-level data, districts visualizing district-level data, and the Ed Center team visualizing the progress and impact of our network). - Working closely with district partners and organizations to ensure timely delivery of data. - Working closely with project teams and the Director of Impact to meet any grant or progress evaluation requirements. These include, but are not limited to, mid-year and final reports for various projects, board of directors updates and materials for new and existing funders. - Support the Director of Impact's facilitation of regular steps-backs with project staff to collect project updates, collect key content generated from each engagement, and to review data and begin to interpret results - Gathering and analyzing research on continuous improvement, school improvement, on-track indicators, NY city and state education policy, federal education policy, and other topics related to the project. - Participating in self-initiated and job-provided professional development activities to stay current on matters related to education, data analysis. - Supporting the broader team to deeply understand the district context by researching the history of the city/district and staying current on local topics. - Participating in and supporting the facilitation of professional learning sessions. - Contributing to the Ed Center-wide analytics by informing a broader analytics strategy across the portfolio and serving as an Analyst on other project teams as assigned. - Performing related duties as assigned.
Project Management & Operations - Collaborating with the Director of Impact on Special Projects as needed to demonstrate the impact of the ed center across projects and contribute to business development. - Managing timelines for various analytics responsibilities and collaborating with the project manager to move forward respective workstreams. - Attending professional learning engagements to support in data collection and implementation. - Supporting in maintaining a functional and supportive organizational system within the G:Drive, files, documented systems and processes, etc. - Creating and executing on a measurement project plan that oversees the work streams and timelines for data collection and research activities. - Supporting relationship building and maintenance with external partners, including representing the team at some external engagements and/or making presentations to external audiences. - Performing related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Skills & Knowledge: - Background in advanced research and education, with prior experience on research projects analyzing district -level data - Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a group - Expertise in interpreting and summarizing academic research as well as the ability to present information in multiple formats for diverse audiences - Strong communication skills (public speaking, email, fact sheet and report writing) - Attention to detail and ability to identify issues and inconsistencies in data - Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel & Google Data Studio - Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to perform independently - Excellent PowerPoint/Google Slides skills and the ability to present information, including data, in multiple formats. Experiences: - Experience with reporting and/or managing grant-funded projects and associated deliverables - Experience working with diverse and/or historically deprioritized student populations at the classroom- and/or school- levels - M.A. degree in education, M.P.A, M.P.P, or related field - Experience working in or with schools - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with experienced educators and district teams; - Demonstrated ability to think strategically & execute on ideas - Ability to work effectively with data of varying levels of quality and validity; attention to detail and ability to identify issues and inconsistencies in data - Flexibility in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment of quickly changing priorities and tight deadlines; - Ability to work effectively with data of varying levels of quality and validity - Attention to detail and ability to identify issues and inconsistencies in data Mindsets. - An intersectional, anti-racist lens and strengths-based approach to data management, and team collaboration - A reflective learner's stance - Enthusiasm for learning and a willingness to self-initiate professional learning opportunities - Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative
Salary Range: $85,000-95,000
