Reporting to the Director of Academic and Diversity Strategies (ADS), the associate director provides leadership to the student access strategies in Undergraduate Admissions. Manages collaborative efforts to increase applications and enrollment of academically talented diverse first-year students. Works directly with the Director of Academic and Diversity Strategies (ADS) and the ADS leadership team to accomplish strategic goals and priorities. Leads the development and implementation of programs and communications to promote access to Ohio State for prospective students. Leads the development and implementation of on-campus and off-campus programming and events and cultivates relationships to facilitate the development of enrollment pipelines for students to The Ohio State University. Oversees all operational activities and processes for the travel grant program. Leads, manages, and coordinates targeted high school student cohort programs and efforts in Undergraduate Admissions for both recruitment and yield. Oversees the evaluation and assessment of the success of these recruitment efforts. Ensures timely and accurate administration, management, and communication of events, programs, initiatives, and efforts to promote access.
Works with the Outreach and Recruitment leadership to support recruitment efforts to promote access. Serves as an operational liaison between Undergraduate Admissions and campus stakeholders, including but not limited to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), Honors & Scholars Center, academic colleges/unit, Office of Student Life, SEM Marketing and Strategic Communications, Analysis and Reporting. Manages and supports early outreach efforts to high school students, including strategic program development, implementation and assessment with community partners and faith-based organizations. Manages daily workflows. Leads review of research focusing on best-practices for the recruitment and enrollment that promotes access. Plans and facilitates training for Undergraduate Admissions staff, serves as the chair of a training committee. Leads, manages, and develops professional and student staff. Employs a comprehensive performance management process including setting expectations through performance planning, on-going training, coaching, leadership shadow castings and performance review, evaluates staff; motivates and encourages staff to help set priorities, and support staff in their own career development. Reviews applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) and makes admissions recommendations through our holistic application review process, adhering to deadlines and that fluctuates throughout the year. Uses the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA), CRM, student information system, and other technologies to inform and support work. Reviews, analyzes, and validates data to make recommendations for program enhancements through use of data tools. Maintains an understanding of admissions policies, procedures and student data related to ADS areas. Uses demonstrated knowledge and experience with databases to design and execute data queries using internal data management tools.
Represents the Director of Academic and Diversity Strategies and the ADS area in meetings and on internal and external committees. Participates as an active member of Undergraduate Admissions through membership on committees. Participates in on and off campus events and programs. Occasional travel and work nights and/or weekends. Completes special projects and duties as assigned.
Required: Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 6+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated successful supervisory experience of full-time staff; strong organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence; experience working with students and families from diverse backgrounds; experience with various software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).ability to be a self-starter and contribute to a positive work environment; capable to multi-task while juggling competing priorities; ability to take instruction and work independently; high degree of attention to detail and self-disciplined time management; problem-solving skills and liaison experience; effective presentation and facilitation skills; ability to maintain confidentiality. This position requires successful completion of a background check.
Desired: Master's Degree. Experience in admissions or higher education. Strong project management skills. Experience with marketing and student recruitment. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
