Associate Research Scientist: Physical Chemistry. The Biomaterials Design Group led by Leila Deravi in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University seeks an enthusiastic associate research scientist and project manager to lead a multi-institution collaboration on building asymmetric optical materials. The primary responsibility of the staff is to perform research, which will entail the generation of gaseous particles and the characterization of their structure and optical function. The secondary responsibility of the staff is to communicate and consolidate research findings from all team members together with Professor Deravi for weekly project reporting. The candidate should be exceptionally organized, self-motivated with an interest in project management across a highly collaborative group of chemists, physicists, and engineers. A strong background in aerosol chemistry is required and a basic understanding milestone reporting to government sponsors would be a bonus. It is expected that the staff will contribute to preparing reports, coordinating team efforts, and communicating findings. The appointment is for one year and may be extended pending regular progress evaluation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in chemistry, environmental science, materials science/engineering or related field; strong technical expertise and demonstrated independence in the design and execution of experiments. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Assist in initiating, executing and completing research and experiments.
2) Preparation of slides and monthly reports for milestone tracking.
3) Project management.
