This position is responsible for actively collaborating with all levels of the organization to maximize the use of existing business systems and create synergies across the organization to enable cost-effective and innovative-shared solutions in the achievement of business goals. The Director of Technology Strategy and Facilities leads the development and execution of the association’s digital strategy and technology road map, ensuring its integration with the enterprise’s strategy and objectives to prepare for future needs. This position is responsible for the management of technology infrastructure and systems that support the operational business of the enterprise, the upkeep of the administrative headquarters office in Rolling Meadows, IL, support for the Washington DC office, and the leadership of the technology and facilities teams. The Director works closely with the VP of Registries and Data Science to ensure data needs are identified and strategically implemented.
Essential Functions
Leads the technology staff in managing the operations of the infrastructure, hardware, software, internal and third-party systems, and the telecommunication system. Manages, develops, and maintains a highly qualified team of technology professionals to meet the organization’s needs while fostering a culture of innovation, transparency, and accountability.
Partners with business leaders to drive change and solve operational and workflow challenges. Initiates and maintains technology planning strategy, with input from intra-/inter-departmental and cross-functional project teams to ensure that key goals and objectives are accomplished in the required timeframes and using best practices. Supports the organization’s digital transformation by determining technology needs, developing implementation plans and optimizing the system benefits.
Leads data governance processes to ensure stakeholder involvement, ownership, and oversight for AMS and other key data. Facilitates development of business processes through the use of analytics to optimize member experience, improve outcomes, reduce costs, and enhance member satisfaction.
Oversees organizational policies and procedures related to risk, compliance, and security, including developing and maintaining technology risk management policies/procedures and recommending systems and processes to improve disaster recovery and business continuity. Provides recommendations on cyber security solutions. Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
Evaluates systems to ensure processes are efficient, reliable, and focused on the member experience. Works with appropriate staff and outside vendors and consultants as necessary to develop and implement technology solutions, programs, and projects.
Supports senior leadership with setting the mission and vision of the technology department to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset.
Leads technology and facilities budgets, to contribute to cost-effective operation of the organization, and to meet the current and future needs of the building and related operations. Supports development of the capital budget.
Manages relationships with current technology and facilities vendors and third-party providers. Manages negotiation and administration of technology and facilities vendor, outsourcer, and service agreements.
Liaises with appropriate AANS committees, providing administrative support for assigned committees and attending committee meetings as needed.
Leads, coaches, and mentors staff and project teams. Recommends staffing and project team resource needs. Sets expectations of team and vendors, monitors progress and accountability; provides formal and informal feedback routinely to all stakeholders.
Oversees administration of Rolling Meadows office building, including security, building operations, safety and emergency preparedness, and compliance.
Performs other job-related duties, as assigned by management.
Qualifications
10+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
Successful track record of IT leadership, execution and delivery including experience leading IT groups in applying innovative IT solutions in support of the business.
Experience integrating third party systems with an association management system.
Excellent management, organizational, customer service, and communication (written and oral) skills; interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of employees, vendors, and partners.
Ability to prioritize staff responsibilities based on critical or business impact.
Self-driven, motivated senior IT leader with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and leadership/good executive presence.
Experience working with multiple units and/or organizations, building relationships, and with highly collaborative projects.
Ability to plan, establish, manage, and evolve association and affiliate client systems and solutions in support of constituent and organizational success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with Salesforce/Nimble required.
