Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Head of Digital Scholarship Services (DSS), the incumbent is responsible for providing research and instruction for digital scholarship. Responsible for providing reference support, coordinating asynchronous instruction and developing learning modules, supporting use of research infrastructure and tools; responsible for providing outreach and assessment, business workflows, and supervising student assistants.

$27.82 - $29.77 (Hourly Rate) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $27.82 - $38.04 (Hourly Rate)
Required:
Minimum of 3 years of related experience working in an academic or public library or relevant education and training. Experience with methods, tools, services related to digital scholarship such as open source coding, open science publishing, repository systems, data visualization, digital collections, or digital humanities. Experience providing research or consultative support on a variety of topics. Ability to listen perceptively and analyze complex problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and respond in the most effective manner. Familiarity with the research lifecycle and ability to contribute to the development of new library services to meet emerging research needs. Ability to use a personal computer word processing software, email, computer printers, and external hardware. Ability to learn new software, including spreadsheets, databases, and Web interfaces. Ability to use technology to support teaching and learning. Skills to work independently, follow through on assignments, meet deadlines, be flexible and satisfy workload priorities. Skills to consult or work on projects which are interrelated within department units or other library departments in a timely manner. Effective oral and written English language communication skills sufficient to communicate clearly and interact effectively with patrons, student employees, colleagues, and to prepare accurate and effective written materials. Strong interpersonal skills to oversee student employees and interact effectively with a wide variety of co-workers throughout the UC Irvine Libraries. Ability to establish and implement new procedures, organize, and implement special projects. Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively and to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within UCI Libraries and the campus. Ability to supervise students, including training, overseeing workflow, delegating responsibility, and evaluating performance. Ability to maintain work schedule and meet deadlines despite interruptions and distractions.
